I am looking for a set of beadlocks for my Trazer project. Steel or Aluminum, doesn't really matter, they just need to hold up to East Coast rockcrawling. I have the Inner Air style now, not a fan and wanna switch to a conventional style. 17x9 or 17x10 is what I would be looking at.

Anybody used anything with some good results?

I've ran a set of steel 16 bolt ones made buy Stockton Wheel ( I don't think they make them anymore ) for ten plus years with no problems. The only thing I've done is replace all the bolts and cleaned/beat back into shape the rings. No experience with alum.

What's wrong with the inner air style? If it's lack of rim stiffness and protection just weld a rock ring on. Any aftermarket beadlock wheel within a normal budget is only going to be outer beadlock and even the cheap ones are around $200 a wheel and then you are still going to have coning issues and inevitable leaks. Right now you have a double beadlock wheel, why regress?

For aluminum there is Trailgear Creeper Locks, Racelines, and I think Walker Evans to name a few. Allied is probably most popular steel wheel but Raceline also makes a steel beadlock and Eaton used to be another popular brand but not sure if they are still in the game.

Wouldn't going with a wider rim help the inner bead? I run a wide rim ( 14" ) with 19.5 x44 boggers and even at 6 psi I've never had an issue with the inner bead.

I'm also curious as to why you don't like the inner air locks?

Hell I run 39.5/18-15 boggers on 14" wheel w/o inners @ 8-10psi w/o any problems. The boggers have one stiff A$$ sidewall!

Do you already have the 17" tires? If not, Humvee wheels? I have a set w/ the beadlocks I was about to post in the FS section if you need some.

If 17" wheel is a must I would personally go steelies with welded on rock rings and inner air locks all day long, especially since you already have the air locks assuming they are for 17s.

If you are open to other wheel sizes then H1s are the best bang for the buck but tire choices are somewhat limited as you probably already know.

Inner air locks make changing tires by hand a bitch.

Does that mean he's got 16.5 inner air locks to get rid of? 12" wide? :D

We've beat on a bunch of TrailReady wheels over the years with good results. These days their HD17 is pretty tough to beat.

Pun intended. But I didn't come up with it right away.

The Inner Air locks I have are old. I bought them from a guy on here a few years ago and the tubes were ripping and they would rip the valve stems out. The ones I have have a weird sized valve stem. I have to solder a washer in the hole if I want to use the new tubes I have. They are a great concept and when they work right they work great. I just personally think they are more trouble than they are worth.
