Hey there, i'm being a cheap-ass :D

i have to replace a tensioner pulley bearing on a friends vehicle, i have done this before on the Burb, where i removed the bearing from the pulley housing, and snapped in a new bearing only.

BUT, these yahoos at "certain" auto parts store, well most all that i have gone to so far, cannot seem to cross the number on the bearing for some reason. Hell, Napa for some reason doesn't even have the complete pulley assembly..

anybody know where i might be able to get a bearing for this thing?

the number on the current bearing is CG-425

I'm currently searching through the internetz, but thought i'd post up on here to see if any of ya'll would have any connections, ideas, or leads.

thanks:D

That's probably just a seal # on a sealed bearing.."most" idler pulleys use a bearing with a number like 6203,with three or more "suffix" letters and or numbers, those determine the bore size and I'D...I have bought many generic bearings and replaced the ones in idlers with them, despite the lack of a listing in catalogs for them, worse case scenario you have to measure it with calipers or a micrometer and/or bring the old one to a bearing supply store,99% of the time they can match one up..

My friend tried buying an idler pulley & bracket for some forigen car the other day,no parts stores listed one, dealer wanted 150 bucks for it!..he went to a junkyard and found a good used one for TEN bucks!...thats why I shop at them most of the time, you get good parts, sometimes ones recently replaced, dirt cheap..I found a pair of rear struts and coil springs that had been replaced within the past year for my Contour for 40 bucks for the pair, that was much better than shelling out 200 bucks for new ones (at least)..best part is I spotted them just as the car was being hauled by the loader to be crushed, and they torched them out for me,I didn't even lift a wrench!..:D..my car rides like a new one now--found out that annoying "Clunking" in the back I put off as a "dead strut" turned out to be a coil spring with a busted coil, that had a razor sharp edge on it sticking out 1/2" from the tire's sidewall!''and I had driven it 5.000 miles and 5 years like that !..

ok, well good to know, yeah it's been so long since i replaced just the bearing in the Burb, that i really don't remember what exactly i did to match it up. Probably took it into the store with me, as i worked there at the time and just matched it up.

May just check out the junk yards too, as i am also needing a main crank pulley too on this darn car. not a "balancer" as it kinda sorta wobbles alittle

thanks for the help on that info though, appreciated.
