what are some good after market bearings?? Im looking to replace front ones.. While im under there im thinking of replacing u joints also. Any one got some good ones in mind? I have auto locking hubs but thinking of changing them is that a good idea or bad? Last part.. What tools will I need for this??

Give up some more details so we can help. I ssume it's a solid axle GM truck...

Give us a year, model, axle (if you know), t-case (to answer the auto hub ?), anything else you think we may want to know...

The more info you can give, the more (better) help you will get.

Its a 89 all stock still trying to figure out front axle it got a 700r 4 trans... I mostly mud and hit the trails with it.. In the parts wanted something tougher then just stock.... How would I id the front axle?

Why are the auto hubs disliked so much?? Its blazer by the way.. Ok so how much work will it take to swap out the auto hubs for manual ones?.. From wat I can see driver side looks shot.. Are warn hubs the best?

I prefer the manual locking hubs over autos. It sometimes takes the autos a bit to lock up. On the manual once you turn the knob they are locked.

I don't run anything fancy as far as u-joints or bearings, I just look for made in the USA brands.

Tools needed basic hand tools, only specialty tools needed would be a hub socket and snap ring pliers.

I have always used warn hubs. You can buy the (normal) hub or the premium. I have had good luck with both and I am running the cheaper ones right now on mine.

Depending on your mechanical experience to swap out the hubs a couple hours to twice that.

If you are going to swap hubs I would look at the brakes and see if you need to replace the pads or turn the rotors, and do the bearings on both sides at the same time. If the bearings are bad you will want to look at the bearing races to be sure they are good and you will need new seals.

So a few other tools desired would be a brass drift / punch to help knock out and in the races if you replace. A seal puller if you want but not required. Some people use a steel pipe of the same diameter as the bearing race to remove and install the new one.

U know I was looking at that in the store on set of national bearings front and back was gana cost me the same as both sets of front bearings made in china stuff.. so I desided to see what my options are...

70jimmy where did u see that store? Im in blend.. Im learning to do this stuff my self
. I take pride in my ride.. Did the shocks my self and fuel pump.. I was gana swap out the brakes. :pimp:
