My bed floor is rotted. The rot happened where what appears to be some cross members meet the floor. See the bits of rust around the mounts (that are through the floor as well) I am pretty much going to cut out the entire bed and replace it.

My question is for the cross members what to use? Or what have you guys used?

Also is there a way to brace the body mounts? There seems to be allot of force on them for being as thin as the sheet metal is...

Thanks,
Jeremy

Mine is starting to look like that, x members are rotting as well. I plan on making some x members out of 1" square tube I have laying around and putting some sheet metal for a floor. I also plan to make my own body mounts as well.

I've used "Uni-Strut" U-channel stuff for crossmembers ,its about the same size as stock ones but much thicker, and its galvanized ..I have seen it art Lowes and Home Depot, electricians and other tradesmen use it to hand heavy heaters, A/C units and other various uses...

On the body mounts I have "dobled up" the metal by leaving as much good metal on the original and then weld a new cab mount right over the old one...one truck I had with severe rot in the floors and cab mounts,I chopped out the entire cab mount area and floot pan, built a new floor out of 16 gauge galvanized metal, then I used the base plates off old car bumper jacks as the supports between the cab floor and the frame mount--welded them to the floor and used the stock rubber bisquits --they are very strong and would not rust away in my lufetme!...
