ok guys I'm new here and this may have been answered elsewhere but I couldn't find it. I am restoring an 82 k5 and am getting ready to pull the old nasty carpet out. My question is for those of you who have herculined (or similar) your blazers. How bad is the road noise after the carpet and rubber mat underneath is pulled out? Does the bedliner reduce the noise at all? This is my daily driver and I will be on the blacktop a lot, so that is my concern.

I don't think the bedliner does much at all to dampen the noise. I used AL's liner in mine and I like the results, but it's pretty loud. I even used a heat / sound dampening fiberglass mat with aluminum backing on the underside of the truck from the firewall to the rear seat - still a lot of road and exhaust noise.

I have my interior LIne X'd..you get more noise and more heat. I use thick industrial rubber matting as floor mats, helps with the heat. Im use to the noise. so dont bother me.

I hurculined mine. Got a lot more noise, but my truck is a trail rig, so didn't care. I have seen guys who bedliner it and then get a new pad and carpet kit from either summit or LMC. You could go that route

you get, I'll say, "substantially" more noise when you get rid of the carpet/insulation... definitely noticeable.. unbearable, no, that's what they make good stereos for... ;) it's a more subtle "noise" than say, a loud exhaust or Boggers...

bedliners do nothing really to subside that.. that said, I drove around for 5 yr's like that...

I had to pull my carpet out when I got my truck, it was all wet and moldy from sitting. Drove it around with bare floors for a while. Herc'd it when I swapped in the newer seats.

Is the Herc quieter than bare floors? Yes

Is it as quiet as carpet and insulation? Not even close.

I DD'd it like this for a year. It was tolerable. But, I built it as a trail truck and left the top off for most of the year too. It gets old quick. Now I have my DD wagon and is much more comfortable noise/heat wise.

If you're building a trail truck and plan on top removed most of the year, rock the Herc floors. It'll be noisey, but being in TX, your real concern should be the heat. It'll get hot in there.

But, the op says "restoration". In my mind this should include carpet and insulation (equal to or better than factory) in your build.

Its an old truck, its not like you are getting into a 2014 silverado. Now they do make an undercoat that is supposed to help with sound. Not sure if it really makes a difference on these old trucks with swampers and a loud big block.

It's loud and annoying with no carpet.

I bedlined inside my cab and then stuck 11mm carpet underlay to the entire floor with spray glue then put the rubber mat back over top of it. I have 38" grapplers and I don't really start to hear them until about 45mph. Obviously the carpet underlay isn't very good with moisture but it was only $14 for my reg cab and was a big improvement.
