Ok folks, ever since sinking the SS Suburban this past weekend, I have removed the interior, and only bolted in the drivers seat and the console. I want to do a home bedliner on the floor. Now comes the challenge..

Herculiner?
Duplicolor?
Rustoleum?
Durabak?

Rustoleum is the cheapest, at $45.00/gallon, available at walmart.

Herculiner is what everyone here rubs on their hootus...

I have the Duplicolor in an aerosol can, that's what I did the floor of my K10 with 8 years ago, and the texture was thin, what about the roll-on? I will be using the duplicolor aerosol on the doors, however.

Durabak? Don't know much about it

That duplicolor stuff they sell at autozone or advanced or what not that says like it has kevlar in it, junk, my buddy used it on his truck once, he wasnt very happy with it. Water seemed to slowly wipe it off it was weird.

The Rustoleum stuff is on my DIY dash (see build thread, later posts)

it's thin but tough, which worked great for the dash. I wouldn't use it in a high traffic area, or bed area, but the sides of the bed maybe. Inner wheel wells maybe too.

x2 on the Duplicolor with kevlar. I know 2 people who used it and were not happy with the results.

I used Herc on the cab floor of my truck with good results so far. Been on there almost 2 years now and holding pretty good. I did notice one spot where my foot wore through where my heel sits and pivots from gas to brake.

Any of the DIY bedliners will be thin. You need a good spray on for any real protection and insulation.

I had poor results with Duplicolor too,but it was a long time ago when it first came on the market (brush on type)..guess they haven't improved it any since, judging by the number if posts here that had similar results??...I used Herculiner after that,ir was a lot better..and more expensive, but it was worth it not to have to do it over!..

I have liked Rustoleum paints, but they changed to a "low volatility" foemula some years ago,and dont seem as good as the "old stuff" was...haven;t tried the bedliner yet,but I'd buy that before the dupli-color ..

Ive put herc on lots of vehicles, some people can hate on it but ive never had a problem with it fading or rubbing off. Its on my truck under the trim line, on my van under the trim line, and heck my whole BII is painted with it. Just make sure to sand the surface down its goin on really well so it will stick correctly.

Not brand concerned, but is taking an angle grinder with a cup brush to rough up the surface good enough? I have no rust, just good paint in the floor of the bed.

British, that was my next question. That was my exact plan, then use wax and grease remover to clean up the dust and when that drys, hit it hard. Anyone sprayed in the herc? 2.8 tip or what?

I've heard good things about Al's Liner too, but its not cheap. My buddy used it and he hasn't had any issues with it peeling or anything.

don't be surprised if it peels..... wire wheels have a tendency to burnish things.. they are great for getting loose scaley stuff off, but have you ever noticed the sheen of the remaining finish?

you need to sand things to create the etch/adhesion... wire cup first on the loose stuff then a sander 180 to 220... blow off.. damp towel/dry towel with paper towels and denatured alcohol.... mask hootus and go to town...

OK, now, will a gallon, actually 3-7/8 qts., cover the floor, tail gate, and up the sides of the Blazer? I intend to use the arasol can to cut in the areas hard to get to with a roller.

Yah it will. I got 2 coats on my BII with a gallon and I didnt even use all of it.

it'll be pretty thin, would be my expectations.. are you running panels in the bed? I'm not gonna bother going up the sides, as they're covered and they're a good satin black now... I'm just doing the lower flats...

i have herc, but I'm not certain I'm gonna use it... sheesh, I do boat non skid all day, I should be able to come up with some custom app...

Im just sayin from experiance, I bet you could get 3 coats out of a gallon, but what do I know about herc.....

oh yah... lol

looks pretty spotty and thin to me...

I said I did 2 coats on it though. I was just saying that if 2 coats covered the whole truck then he should be able to get 3 coats with a gallon easy just on the interior, maybe need more on the burb, but not on a k5.

depends on how thick you want it... bedliner is the one time you'll here me say thick is good...

that's not what she said...

can you add to it after the first coat dries, or does it have to be done wet?

sanding in between the floor grooves on a burb is gonna suck..
