I've been thinking a little, about maybe going to bucket seats and dumping my bench seat. Then either make or get a center console for storage and a stereo system, and most likely a CB radio as well.

I like my bench seat. I like that I can fit 2 passengers in my truck because my truck is my DD. My interior is in great shape too, I just recovered the seat about a year and 1/2 ago.

But bucket seats are badass and offer better support for the rear end. Also I can cleanly do a stereo system and a CB with a center console.

If I do choose to do bucket seats then I wnat them to match my maroon interior and I don't want an all out race seat, I want something that will hold your body in the seat while cornering, but i also don't want to throw in a set out of a Blazer.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Here is a picture of my interior for reference:

besides other people....buckets are sweet, my friend put leather seats out of a jeep grand cherokee? if i spelled that right, in his k30 but ya, those are nice and soft with a good shape to hold u in...hes on CK5, maybe he can get some pics, o ya, $200 for them both.

i'd say get a split bench type seat that has maybe a fold down console. still serves the purpose of a console just doesn't have the accessories for CB/Radio. that's what i plan on doing in my stepside later on. the new trucks have very nice seats IMO comfy wise

I guess its a good thing that I cleaned it before I installed it...

Having had buckets and benches in various trucks I have to say I like benches better. Well, our benches at least. They don't make seats like these any more.

Years ago I knew a guy on another forum who redid the interior of his '89 K1500. Went to a set of race buckets and ended up regretting it. Lost one passenger capacity, the gal wasn't next to him, and he didn't really like how the buckets ended up restricting him and the seating positions. Lots of variables.

Another option to consider would be the 04 and newer Dodge benches. It would take a little fab work, but they have both a fold down console in the center and a lift up console in the bottom center. Gives you some storage options, plus an easy place to mount your CB. It wouldn't be as good for the stereo, but I know my dad just plugs his CB in and puts it into the bottom section when he is out hunting. Keeps it out of sight, and the upper section has a built in 12V outlet. And they come in leather with heaters, makes the ladies happy.

Heated leather seats would be wicked flippin sweet!

Good point with that... Most of the time its just me driving but I do still use the utility of the bench seat.

My '92 Blazer K1500 was buckets...but it had a back seat.
My '99 Ram 1500 had a bench with the fold down center console. You could fit 3 as long as everyone was friends or the middle was a gal.
My '96 Ranger had buckets and was therefore a 2 seater. The rear seats were a joke unless the prospective passengers were 12 years old or younger.
Big Ugly has a bench...and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Okay...a heated bench would be great.

my favorite are the buckets in my 89 suburban. I like the high back of buckets, but might be cause I"m 6ft4 and the stock bench is too low of back for me. I always wanted to put burban buckets in my 85 k10. It has a 60/40 bench out of a early 90s chev truck, it has a higher back.

I bolted a set in my blazer out of an early 90s eclipse, they were awesome, comfortable, and adjustable all ways, even lumbar support. I think I got the pair for $75 from a junk yard. It will take some fabbing though to make them bolt up in a pickup cab, I am considering doing this in my m1008 also fwiw, I miss my buckets...:(:(

I buddy of mine from a while back spent a long time fabbing buckets into his 87 1ton that was used to pull a lot of hay wagons around the farm. He got a new gf and I hadn't seen him in a while. I came over one Saturday and he was putting the bench back in the truck... "you just can't get a good BJ without the bench seat" he said.

Sounds like he is using his truck for the wrong reason. They have this thing call a $24 hotel for the other stuff. :haha:
