So, I finally got my 3/4 ton swap done. Got the 14 BFF and matching 4.10 D44. I had 3.08 gears with my 35's and it ran great down the freeway but now with the bump in gears and my current th350 I am only comfortable at about 60MPH. HUGE change in the RPM and speed. Hell, at least my speedo is about back to normal. I got the 5 15" fakey lock rims for $25 each so they are starting to grow on me a bit considering I sorta like BLING. At least it looks a little meaner when crusing the mall, errrrrrrr, on the trails. Let me know what you think of the change.

After Swap and fakeys. Well, I just realized I don't know how to make the pics bigger. I gained about 1 5/8" in the rear and about 3/4" in the front.

Are the new tires still 35's and the RPM's are still too high on the freeway?

It looks nice. I'm jealous of the nice paint job though.

Yeah, same meats as before. Didn't have my GPS on the first run on the freeway but before with the 3.08 my speedo said 50mph and the GPS said about 71mph. Don't have a tach but just by the sound of the engine at about 60mph on the speedo (wife and I were going to a picnick and she was in her SUV and said I was going about 60mph also) it was turning pretty high. I guess around 3K RPM's.

Let me clarify as the RPM's with out a tach at 60mph we high enough in my comfort range to not want to go faster for long periods of time. I really need a tach.

It is kinda tough to tell by the sound of the motor. Mine sounds crazy loud at 2800+ so it might not be that bad. But I'm kinda surprised it's even that high at only 60 mph. In mine with the same gears and tires, 4th gear (1:1 ratio is the same as th350), was running 2500rpm at most. I wonder if your torque convertor is slipping too much?

I hate to admit it, but I had a similar sounding problem when I left the transfer case in 4-lo while on the freeway. Luckily the trans shop I took it to didn't tease me that bad. :haha:

I'll have the exact same engine/drivetrain on my 76, but will be running 37's. 60-62mph on the highway was my goal, so that's good to know. Your truck looks good, now its time to change your sig.

I ran pretty much the same setup for a while. Doing 70 mph, turning a touch over 2500 RPMS. So doing 60, will be less. www.4lo.com has a pretty good chart and calculaters to determine RPMs and MPH.

That is good stuff. (But your not supposed to admit that.)

My 75' ran exactly 66.4 gps mph at 3000 rpm. 33" tires with 4.10. (Of course, that is advertised 33" which is less, and they were a tad worn down.)

post up some gas mileage #'s when you get a chance. Inquiring minds want to know.

I can try. However, I only drive my rig on the weekends just as a toy to tear around town and down by the beach. Rarely do I ever fill the tank full of fuel unless it is a wheeling trip. Drive probably 50-60 miles a month so I'm not sure how accurate it would be or how to check milage only putting 1/3 tank of fuel in it at a time. Ideas?

glad you photo chopped the rainbow sticker off the back. You put most of the miles on you Miata right :D

the black looks good.
