This is our friend Bob in his Jeep CJ7 with GM axles (a 14 Bolt FF rear and Dana 44 front with 4.56 gears and Detroit lockers). Maybe the fact that Bob's Jeep is locked front and rear isn't the coolest part of the story.

He is paralized from the waist down, and in a wheelchair most of the time. But he still gets out and wheels with us. Pedals are all hooked to hand operated controls.

thats pretty cool man, i always think about what i would do if i were to loose the use of my legs, or go blind, or loose my hearing, its pretty crazy stuff, thats really cool he can still get out and do stuff like that!!:xmas:

He even has a winch mounted inside so he can get in by himself. :)

I'd bet it took some time learning how to maneuver through some situations using hand controls for gas and brake while also steering.

Holy crap! That is truely amazing. Give him a pat on his back for me for getting this far with he disablilty. That is really awesome!

P.S. did he just crawl up the tree with both lockers? Thats an awesome picture!

He just crawled right up. The first couple tries were a bit shaky, but this time he crawled up, it didn't sway, and he held it there for a few minutes while a friend took the pics.

Lockers and low gears are awesome things. They make life offroad alot better then if you don't have them.

Is it Evan Evans that's the parapallegic off road racer? Folks that take what life hurls at them and laugh at it really gain my respect. I to honestly have no idea how I'd deal with some catastrophic injury.

It is Evan Evans who is a paraplegic.

I've a friend, Javier, who is also a paraplegic and as it happen he wheels a CJ7 too. One trick of his I've long thot was cool is that he removed the firewall bolts for the front fenders and replaced them with a stainless piano hinge. His inner liners are cut out so removing the 3 fender bolts at the grill allows him to swing the fenders out of the way and get right into the engine bay.
Jav recently built an S-10 for desert racing. Not long ago he finished his first MDR race at Barstool.
