anyone have problems w/ 700r4 not fitting due to flexplate hitting bell housing

sorry let me explain a little more got a new 700r4 to replace my old one and having problems with the flexplate hitting on the new one. if they are the same tranny why wont it have the same size bell housing

Are you sure it's a tranny from a v8 or 4.3 truck? If it's from a 2.8 truck, it's a different bellhousing.

I've seen this issue before but with a TH350. The bell housings were sometimes different between the use of the 153 tooth flexplate versus the 168 tooth flexplate. I assume that GM may have made a slightly different bell on some 700R4's as well. It certainly doesn't make sense but it is possible.
