So I recently got a new computer and wanted to get my bend-tech software loaded on it. I purchased 6x pro and did the electronic download a couple years back and they also sent out a backup CD.
Well figures I can't find the CD now so I emailed them with a copy of my original invoice with all the purchase information.

Their response?

Tough luck, the best they can do is upgrade me for $125...I already spent almost $300 initially. They said they don't support old versions which is dumb, I bought 6x and they're on 7x.

Any of you guys tried to gather all the program files and successfully transfer a program from an old computer to a new one?

You could try copying the entire 2020ssi folder and see what happens. You'll need to call them and have the new computer setup in their system, if it runs. If I remember it checks back to home base when you start so they can prevent piracy.

He is pretty serious on his anti piracy thing. There even is a security program on their so you cant even copy the CD. You must have the original.

Have you complained on pirate? Probably will get you further with the company than here.

Or you will get made fun of for losing cd.

Yeah I understand why he has such a strong anti-piracy setup with the original cd's and that file you have to download from them to make it run.
I was just surprised there was no solution. I wasn't asking for something for free, I'm a paying customer and would have gladly paid for another CD and shipping.
I'll keep looking for the CD. I'm a pretty organized person but I moved this summer so there's a chance it's at my parent's house.

Usually when you have a true install, dll files will get installed all over the hard drive. windows, system32, sometimes in the user folder as well as program files/(x86). Really tough to copy a program w/o a full list of all the associated dll files. On top of that there's probably a ton of registry entries that would need to be found/copied. Without a list of those items it will be nearly impossible.

I went by my parent's house after work and dug through a ton of stuff and found it! I got it installed onto my new tower and went through the registration setup and within minutes received an automated e-mail trying to get me to upgrade to the next version.
It all seems to work fine though. Thanks for the input guys, I'll rock this version until it doesn't work!
