bend tech software

I never realized it was so cheap. $149 for EZ3D? Umm yes please!

This little note is confusing me though, from the website

Does this mean I need to have internet on the computer while in the shop? Because there is no internet in the shop....

"Security Dongle"

"If a valid internet connection is not available on your computer, you may choose to purchase a security dongle to use the software offline. This will allow your computer to run Bend-Tech software as long as the security dongle is plugged into an available USB port on the computer. This USB security dongle becomes the license for your software.

While the security dongle will allow your computer to run Bend-Tech software without an internet connection, there are a few drawbacks to using the offline method. Bend-Tech software will not be able to automatically download any new updates and the direct Help Session will not be available. Also, any maintenance of a security dongle requires shipment back to our facility and back to you at additional cost. If you are unable to provide shipment of your security dongle (such as loss or theft), you will be required to purchase the dongle with full price of your software."

Yes thats what that means. They must be seriously protective of their software in todays day and age. Solidworks is big bucks and so is every other cad and design software out there in every industry and they all get cracked and ripped off. Any software that can be used to make money usually has very stringent security measures.

No $hit. So I gotta buy the $50 "Dangle" so I can use the software on my laptop in the shop?

I can see that with solidworks, being it costs thousands... But for a $149 program? Come on lol.

Just saw this thread and it sparked my interest, my question is how do template inside the cab to correctly input the shape for the software?

To the best of my knowledge this statement is incorrect. The security dongle is only for computers that NEVER have Internet.
I have BT Pro and run it no internet often.

You need the Internet for the initial registration of the software then after that if you don't have Internet i believe all you're missing out is the updates.

And also the initial calibration is very straight forward and I think all it takes is like 2 or 3 feet of tube. Even if you use the tube for the calibration and promptly toss it in the garbage it still wouldn't be wasted cause you just used it to set up another tool (bend tech)

Over all I have realy enjoyed playing with the software and my favorite part is the amazing customer service I've called several times with questions and everytime I have gotten someone that cares and also knows the software very well they have always taken the time to answer all my questions.

I am a big proponent of Bend Tech software. I have had a copy of Bend Tech Pro for several years and keep the upgrades current. I also have the SM module (sheet metal) which I seem to be using more these days than the tubing portion. If you want to design a complete cage, you will need Bend Tech Pro. Bend Tech 3D will allow you to design and bend 3D parts, but not design the complete assembly as a unit. One of the best things about Bend Tech software is that if you start out with say EZ or EZ3D and you decide you want a more capable version, you can upgrade for just the difference in cost between your current version and the one you want to upgrade to.

There are many videos on Bend Tech's Youtube channel that will show you just what the software can do.

I see. That's what im hoping for, just was unsure.

I should have bought it when I did my cage. Wasted a bunch of tube, and things could have been cleaner looking. Live and learn.

Hmm perhaps then. The only program I know of that uses a dongle is the cabinet design software my dad has used for years for work. That required a USB key regardless of internet or not so I kind of just assumed it was along the same lines.

Ive been back and fourth with chris over at bend tech. He has answered every question I have had. One thing I do not like which IDK if this will change my mind or not is that if you dont use the software YOU CANT SELL IT. It is licensed to you and you only.

Not that big a deal imo. It's not that expensive for what it is imo.

Not like your buying a $5000 seat of a cad system.

Actually that is the way it is with a lot of software. Once you install it and register the software, it is yours and you are not supposed to sell it to or share it with anyone else. When you purchase software, you are actually purchasing a license to use it.

Chris at Bend Tech is quite a stickler about people honoring that agreement when they purchase his software.

Can't blame the guy for that, he's the one who has spent the money and time putting it together. Why should someone else profit from it? If you want to make a profit from it.....Build someone a bumper or a cage using it and theirs your money back.....Or better yet, develop your own program and sell it.

Good to know. Don't want to be sued for damn sure. Guess I will be keeping mine then. May never get used. Oh well. $275 wasted I didn't NEED to spend. :doah:
