Most of the demo work is done,, and I'm getting ready to buy a bender and dies this week and want to know everyone's opinion as to what size tube you used to build your cage and if you had to do it over what again would you use the same size,,,I'm looking to use 1 5/8 x .120 HREW for everything,,,,cage,, bumpers,,crossbraces,,

suggestions,,comments,,,

haven't started it yet, but my K5s tube work is gonna be all 1.75" x .120. Sliders and crossmembers might be .188... depends on the price of the steel at that time. ;)

Personally I like the look of a 2" tubing on a fullsize rig. I used 2 x .134 DOM for mine. I went thicker because in a 90* bend the tubing will thin quite a bit. If you use .120 thickness, then the use of gussets / triangulation at those areas becomes much more important. Good luck!

SO MUCH USEFUL HELP HERE,,,thanks guy's

You know sometimes it helps to post something in a different forum just because there are a lot of people that just cruise the same ones daily,,,,
and may not look in the garage forum,,,

I appoligize for upsetting anyone who had to read A TECH POST IN THE LOUNGE!!!!!

Rant off,,,flame away,,,

I used 2" in my c-10 and it looked cool but really cramped the head (padding) and leg area. If I was to do it again I would use no more than 1.75" or 1.5 dom.
