So, a few weeks ago, I spun out and hit a curb beside the road pretty hard and bent my rim. I found a replacement and thought all was good. Yesterday on my way to church, a friend commented that my back wheel was acting funny. I think oh crap, the replacement is bent too:doah: I take it to the tire store this morning and have them swap side to side in the back to see if it's the tire or that hub. Drive off and look in the mirrors to see the same side wobbling:doah::doah: While the wheels were off, I spun the passenger side hub by hand to look at it and sure enough, the mounting flange visibly had an out of round orbit.

Question: I know I need a new axle shaft, do I need to replace the outer bearing as well? and what about the inner carrier bearings? I hope this didn't crack the carrier too. Well, that may be a good thing as I want to swap in a 14 bolt semi-float 6 lug axle in its place, this may be the excuse I need, at the wrong time though.:o

What to do...

Just pop a new axleshaft into it and rock it until you do your semi floater swap. No need to fix something that ain't broke!

That's what I did, thanks to Stephen at ORD.:thumb: Good businessman he is, never felt rushed, sat and chatted for 10 minutes or so even though he said he was busy, made absolutely sure that I was getting the correct part, and chatted some more.

I guess I'll do that axle swap sooner than later:D 14 bolt semi-float with discs and a locker, mmmm....

I worried that the price of a shaft would run me close to the $200 mark, which I would find hard to justify given that I'm going to swap in that 14 bolt soon(-ish) But Stephen gave me a good price and I like to support the CK5 community where I can so:D ;)

I'm sure the actual swap of the shaft will take a bit more time as I've got to deal with the gov-bomb carrier.:doah:
