There's a '97 S10 4x4 locally for sale, cheap, that got T boned. Just ahead of the front of the rear leaf spring perch and behind the driver's door the frame is bent in a couple of inches. The truck runs and drives, could make a nice beater.

I've been told that pre-2000 Chevy frames can be heated and bent, after that they are high carbon steel and can't be. True?

Sure you can fix it, but why? A '97 s-10 isn't worth much in good condition. Frame repairs suck even with proper equipment, that's why its totaled.

I agree.
I bought my 97 sle with 80k original miles clean California no rust for $800.
I would not get a tboned one for more than $100 for the engine mostly
