Whats the best way to fix bent transfes case linkages..

My 4hi keeps poping out as i got stuck on a steep hill today, got stuck in a hole and it was a mess to get the truck down..

Are you sure its a bent linkage? Could be just out of adjustment or the range/mode forks could be worn down and slipping out of gear (very common)

Tha was my first guess, because some times its dificult to put the 4hi or even go down towards N or 4lo. What i do es go all the way to 4lo and go up again to 4hi to be able to keep it there.

May be this helps it only pops out on bumps on a straigh road it wont do it, only when you hit several bumps or holes.

A similar thing sometimes happens with the gear selector (Auto trans) when wheeling.

As the truck flexes, it binds up the linkages and it's hard to get from Drive to Park or vice-versa. The solution seems to be to go with a flexible cable shifter. VTBlazer put a Lokar cable on his 1st Gen column shifter and he swears by it. A lot of guys go with the Art Carr shifters which are also cable actuated.

Might be worth taking another look.... if it's a binding issue vs. adjustment issue a cable setup might be a smoother shifting and permanent fix.

if its cable shifted.
