If I rev my engine over 4000 rpm it slings the belt and bends the s@*T out of the water pump shaft this is the second time it has happend in the past two months. Please help!

First I've ever heard of someone bending the shaft, congrats! :) I've heard of them pulling out due to a non-clutched mechanical fan turned at very high RPM's, but never actually bending.

The pulley isn't by chance deflecting and hitting something is it? All tight, lines up pretty good with the other pulleys?

everything line up perfect. everything is tight. This is the second one it has bent and i'm talking probably a 1/4" off center. My buddy said "Thats what you get for having new belts, If the were old the belt would have just broke" I dont know what to do every time i flog it in a mud hole it bends!

We need to see pics of this bent shaft. I have NEVER seen a water pump shaft bend before. I've seen them come out of the water pump when the bearings are toast but never bend.

I'll bet the shaft isn't bent but that the flange that the pulley bolts to is crooked. I had this issue once with a brand new pump.

pics, pics, pics. I want to see a bent water pump shaft, Exactly how tight are your belts?

They are tight I'm always scared i get them to tight I have hydro boost and power steering and I can mash the brake as hard as I can and turn the wheel all the way and it wont slip the belt

Just for a reference, when the belt is tightened correctly you should have a 1/4" of deflection at mid point between the longest throw of pulleys. If the belt is too tight you will wear out alternator bearings and water pump bearings and P/S bearings.

Do you have all the original pulleys on the crank and w/p and all the other accesories? I had a similar problem once. After many broken belts and carnage I figured out that I didn't have a matched set and the water pump pulley ran the two belts at different speeds. If I never flogged it they seemed to work. Rev it up and watch out though. Just a thought. Check that all the accesories that share common driven belts have the same diameter.
