I made one more adapter by combining the two pieces but was fighting to get a good printed part. I tried 6 at once, printed at 10 degree intervals to figure out what angle would work best. None were perfect, but I've was better than others and the part fit great.

Looking at that installed are you sure it won't false detect off the bumper? It's recessed pretty far in there to my eye it might "see" the steel towards the center.
 
I'm not sure yet as I do not know the specs for the sensor to check in CAD, but I will find out. If it does, then I'll need to see how far forward I can move it. But the adapter would be easy to replace if needed, just redesign and print a new one.
 
I was wondering if how deep the sensor was shrouded if it would give a false report by catching the bumper.

I’m not aware of any specs on the actual measured area the sensor covers from GM. But I do know the area is cone shaped with the tip at the sensor itself and spreading out from there. On a stock bumper the placement of the sensors do provide a certain amount of overlap in front of the vehicle too (distance from the bumper being the wild card)

I think the main point is the signal is not flat in its shape. Knowing that the signal is 3d should help you figure out if the sensor is too deep or not.

At least for me understanding the signal was cone shaped helped me see how some objects attached to a vehicle were picked up by the sensors or not. I’m talking about certain ball mounts in a receiver hitch out back or an add on bull bar up front.
 
What I'm looking for now is a set of pigtails to fit the factory fog light plugs to connect the new lights without cutting the factory harness.

Today was sensor day. The code that popped up was for the particulate sensor. It took a week, but it arrived yesterday.

So I crawled under the after jacking up one corner and setting it on a jack stand. I followed the wires from the inline box mounted to the outside passenger frame rail to the particulate filter, cut the wires, and pulled the sensor with a socket. Only I noticed the socket size was one size down from the new part. the sensor also looked different than the new part. Upon closer inspection, the box at the end of the wires was different and so was the electrical connector. A quick search on the part number on the box told me I removed the NOx sensor instead. That was a $200+ mistake but a new one will be here overnight.

Then I re grouped and searched for the correct sensor and found it in the tailpipe with the box mounted to the inside passenger frame rail. Verified the wiring, plugs and box all matched 100% before cutting the wires. This one wasn't turning so I soaked it in PB Blaster and did something else for a bit. Then I heated the pipe around the sensor with my small torch, then quenched everything with more PB Blaster. The nut turned free immediately and was backed out.

Now, the sensor body was still stuck. So repeat PB Blaster, heat, quench and then work the sensor with pliars, not a good enough grip. Switch to vise grips, it breaks lose and comes out cleanly.

Then, installed the new part without any issues.
