Best 6\" Lift in your opinion?

I was wondering what 6" lift you all prefer...I have a 4" Rancho lift and want to go a bit bigger... Which lift do you think is the most complete...I was thinking the SkyJacker 6" lift with replacement rear springs (I don't want lift blocks). Also, will I run into any problems when going from the Rancho 4" lift to the 6" SkyJacker (or other) lift kit? Thanks all. Later

Re: Best 6\" Lift in your opinion?

probably wanna consider a new driveline also cuz I don't think you can keep the angle with a 6" lift.

I now there a lots of people that run the SkyJackers, and if I didn't go BDS I would have gone skyjacker or touch country. one of the nicest aspects of the BDS lift is the warantee; you break it they replace it PERIOD! (same goes for sag). ride really is great!

What driveline issues do you think I would run into....I think the previous owner dropped the T-Case a bit (there are several spacers between the frame and t-case) Thanks for the help....

Go with tuff country 6 inch springs in the front and a 4" shackle flip along with a 2 inch spring in the back for best flex ...

Re: Best 6\" Lift in your opinion?

You might have a hard time with vibrations with the slip yoke tcase, thus you MAY need a CV style rear drive shaft to clear it up. Also you will want to either lengthen the frt driveshaft or get the Superlift 1" driveshaft spacer. Brake lines could also become a problem if you don't have longer lines and you will need a drop pitman arm in addition to the raised steering arm

BTW... Skyjacker softrides are decent... I also like The Superlift Superrides although have heard a few complaints on them. I really like My BDS lift though, IMO out of all the trucks I have riden in... it is the best!

Re: Best 6\" Lift in your opinion?

From what I've heard, for a 6" lift, go with BDS or Tuff Country springs. My next lift will be BDS.

Rancho offers the same warrenty as BDS, unless you don't lower your bumpstops.

I'd do the shackle flip in the rear as well with 2" springs or blocks. Big lift springs suck. I personally would rather have the 2" blocks and the 'flip unless I was expecting to pull with my truck.

Re: Best 6

Tim, only problem with the shackle flip and rear springs is the price tag that goes a long with it. you gotta shell out $175 more then the lift would cost of the lift. I think for the same price a person could do greasable bushings all the way around which is what I did. I think it will make the ride better in the long run. (unless I guy was going to do it all)

Re: Best 6

I would just use the blocks. They're cheaper, and they ride and flex better. Plus, 2" blocks are so small they're hardly there.

Re: Best 6\" Lift in your opinion?

I have ran both Rancho soft and firm ride springs.
I'm currently running Skyjacker front and rear springs.
In the future, I'm going with BDS for the ride and warranty.

I'm anxious to see what Wes thinks of the BDS springs... seems like you've installed a lot of lifts.

I have done Rancho, Skyjacker, Superlift, Trail Master, Tuff Country, Rough Country, Rugged Trail (no longer in production), Black Diamond (also no longer in production), and that's about it.

Yeah, most of you are probably saying, "WHAT?!?! He has never done BDS yet?!?!"

Yep, never have done them yet. Hope to do the 6" front and rear springs on the '82 K30 I got from Shawn.

Re: Best 6\" Lift in your opinion?

We recently installed a 6" all spring lift on our '90 Jimmy along with a D60/14B. We have a local "Trik Trux," that is a BDS distributor, but his pricing is obsurd. I ended up buying springs only from http://www.elias4wdcenter.com/ Elias 4WD Center. I talked to the owner Lou Killas who seems very knowledgable and made a very good deal(about the same as Tuff Country & Skyjacker), and offers free freight on complete kits. I did not buy bushings or u-bolts because I purchased greasable everything from ORD and had my u-bolts custom made.

I have not riden in the Jimmy yet, as it's first trip was under tow to the drive-line shop, but the first thing my son said was that it rode better than the 4" ProComp lift.
