Best Basic Affordable 4" Lift

For what it’s worth, I ran 6” pro comps for 3 years and it rode like a dump truck. Took @sweetk30 s suggestion and swapped out for BDS a month back and it’s night and day. You don’t need custom $$$ but you also don’t need to settle for junk

this is true for the majority of us guys i would say .

my friend use to have a 6" all spring rough country in his k30 and the suspension didnt hardly move with a 8ft box full to the top of the cab with cut / split firewood and the tailgate loaded also . the 6" RC springs are on a pallet on the side of my shop right now not sure if were going to scrap them or sell them dirt cheep .

my old crew cab project i parted i had new 8" BDS front and 4" bds rear with a flip kit and if someone bumped in to it sitting there it would flex . so i saved them springs for another truck and they will be put to good use .

ok so I was curious about BDS, 1st time hearing of this spring. So Googled, went to web site. I see whole kits, do they offer just the front springs? Who here would want the BDS shocks?
imo shackle flip for rear is much better than blocks and probably rear springs. feel free to school :dunno:

I had BDS on a truck I built, 6" with a big block. Short wheel base too, and rode pretty good. I did move the shackle lil bit. Not sure on their shocks. Tuff Country or Bilsteins....

Copy down the part number for the specific spring you want and then enter it into the search bar on the bds site.

I found my pair at some local dealer for 200$ a piece, about 50$ less than retail.

No love for the shocks, stick with Bilstein

Nobody's mentioned a simple shackle flip in the rear and 52's up front. Cheapest, easiest 4 in lift for a k5. There are links to both here in the tech section. Some bilstein 5100s to replace stock shocks.....

Effective but by no means cheap. Once you take into account changing the steering to crossover from stock, plus the install of the brackets for the 52's and body mount to the core support. Also you loose the factory sway bar in that swap so it's something else to think about. Some went back to the stock length springs because the 52's flexed enough to break springs or just be sketchy on the highway due to sway.

Do the research if you want to go that way. It's not as simple as it seems.

This x1000 ^^^^^

While I do like my 52 swap on my dedicated trail rig, I really don't think it's a great option for good riding 4" lift DD or weekend warrior scenario. It's als not nearly as simple or cheap as the internet says it is.

I have Rancho front and pricing rear 4 inch springs. The ranchos ride ok but I have a heavy bumper so they are weighed down a bit. The procomps are decent too but don’t flex as well as I’d like. If I do newer springs at some point I’ll more than likely go with tc ez rides. They give a decent overall ride and flex nice from everything I’ve read and researched and from people on here giving Personnal opinions.
