who has found the best place to buy a master rebuild kit for a pre-90 454? the best quality of parts versus price? preferably w/flat top pistons and a choice of different camshaft specs? fel-pro gaskets would be a plus also.

lets see what all you have found over the years here at ck5. any and all rebuild kits, if its cheaper to buy a kit & pistons separate post it up. I'd like to see all the auto part warehouses you all have found...I've got 4 I've used over the years...P.A.W., SUMMIT, JEGS, & COMPETITION PRODUCTS....who else do you all use? I know there has got to be alot more super places out there. Thanks ahead of time...lets fill this thread up w/wholesale parts stores that an individual can buy from!:bow::bow:

Doug Herbert performance parts.

I haven't used them personally, but a local engine builder, says they don't have the best stuff in their kits. He said he's had to finish hone the cylinders more than usual to get a proper fit on pistons. This of course adds shop time, which ends up eating up the savings on the kit. I was ready to go that route, and he said he could match their parts and prices, and actually came in less than what NAP had for their kit.

I have had great results with Northern Auto Parts. You can upgrade parts.
