thats gonna be my next battery. im tired of these crappy optimas dying in under a year:rolleyes:

You've had them die in under a year? I've had the same one in my pick-up since 99.

Optima was bought out by JCI a few years ago 2003 or 04 I think, since that time there quality has'nt been all that it use to be. I got a dual batt setup with a red top that I bought back in 1997 and its still strong. I tested it last year at 760cca. Thats pretty damn good for a 800cca battery thats 10 years old IMO. Oh and my other battery is just a plain old 600cca Delco.

You connected to Johnson Controls? Seems like only employees refer to them as JCI.

Are you just looking for a killer deep cycle? or are you set on a gel or AGM for construction?

The best deep cycle batteries are easily Surrette-Rolls... Nothing comes close... They are a lead-acid, but they make ANY battery, including Optima's, seem pitiful after you see a Surrette..

The freakin things are rebuildable! :eek1:  :eek1:

Cycle #'s are rediculous compared to ANY battery.. Quality ain't cheap tho... :(

Been there plenty of times.. and of course I was talking marine, thats where you'll actually find deep cycle batteries.. certainly not gonna find real ones in the auto industry..

And I did say they where expensive.. Those batteries can be deep cycled a rediculous number of times.. It's a battery for life...

But thats ok, this forum is a prime reason advertising is effective.. You see commercials enough and you end up believing a Fram is a good filter...

CCA is god... It's imbedded in peoples brains and no amount of true battery knowledge sways the zombified public...

I got a friend who is a regional Mgr. in Houston. He was trying to tranfer to B'ham and bring me on board but it fell through.

That is what I got. I have drained it dead (left headlights on no dinger to tell me they are on:doah: ) twice put it on a trickle charge to slowly bring it back up and never had another wimper out of it.:D

I've replaced two many wal-mart batteries that were 1-3 years old to ever trust one in my truck.
