ok, so i think its time to take the factory manifold/exhaust setup off. i have been quoted anywhere from 100 - 250 dollars  to remove the rusted bolts off the manifold where it connects to the y pipe. i think i might be better off getting a new setup and run dual exhaust. i have searched and found some results for a solution to get the bolts out, but it seems that they are rusted beyond removal, and will require someone to torch them out...which i DONT have...

with that said, and a budget in mind...what do you guys think is a economical setup? headers, exhaust? and how much am i looking to get hit with???

I would just saw the bolts off or cut the exhaust off after the manifolds. Then take off everything. Then install the headers with open exhaust and drive to the muffler shop to slap on some dual exhaust, new mufflers (if needed) and an x-pipe never hurts (unless you don't like the sound).

Headers are around $150 and if I remember right, I had my x-pipe, new tubes and mufflers installed on my chevelle for around $200. I don't know if that's a bargain or not, but I know the guy who did it.

Whether economical or not, it'll sure help in the power department and maybe give you some mpg back.
