The best lifts are a combo of different companies parts usually...

Consensus for front springs are usually BDS or Tough Country... Or you can go pricey, custom with Deaver and Alcan or cheap with Rough Country..

Out back generally a shackle flip is prefered for better ride and flex, with DIY4X's version being the most popular these days, also available thru ORD, Sky and such...

it depend on what the truck is gonna be used for. is it a rock crawler, mud truck, or a mall crawler?

I chose the rough country cuz i have one (duh), but for the price even with all the fancy shock upgrades, it was still a few hundred dollars cheaper than the rest. The ride quality is better than i expected, as i had heard nothing except how stiff these springs would be. But the true test will be in December when we go to Tellico.

I just swiched-out my SUPERLIFT springs and PRO-COMP shocks for DEAVER and FOX, 52" up front and 56"aft w/ shackle flip, WOW what a differance!! Sometimes, you get what you pay for.

I just installed a Tuff Country EZ-Ride 3" Lift (New leaf springs front and rear) and Pro Comp ES9000 Shocks on my 1978 GMC jimmy:k5:. I am extremely happy with the ride, EZ for sure!

I chose tuff country, ive had them on the blazer for 2 years now, and they never gave me a problem. I think my next set will be deaver.:D

i have 6" BDS and they aren't the smoothest riding springs out there. i'd probably go rough country for a cheap lift

Running TCI on the front of mine and have been happy wit hit. Running a factory rear spring on a farmboy shackle flip fpr about 6" lift. I have about $250 in my lift kit:D

Quick question, hate to hi-jack this thread, but if I wanted 6" of lift, what rear spring/shackle flip combo would I use? Shackle flip raises it 2" correct? So 4" springs would suffice?

you get the four inch shackle flip and a zero rate, so youre at 5 right now. then throw an add a leaf in your leaf pack or get longer than stock shackles. all while using the stock spring.

Everyone is always looking for ways to keep using their original springs, and I don't think that reusing the originals is always the best idea...

Just think about it, your originals have seen 20-30 years of hard use and are most certainly sagging, not to mention the steel has been fatigued. Both of my original rear springs broke with no cause or warning allowing the axel to wrap backwards, pulling the driveshaft out of the tailshaft, allowing it to hit the ground, but luckily no serious damage occured. The situation could have been alot worse than it was...

So that is why i recomend that you buy new springs or if not inspect the originals really carefully and be aware when they crack.

best is, new back springs and a shackle flip... I'd do that anyday over 4" lift springs...

Unless you tow things around or haul weight. A SF is not exactly the best set up for towing.

This a hard poll. Not enough info. Its Pretty hard to recommend the best lift without knowing what he is going to use his truck for. Off road? Rocks? DD? towing hauling? Mud? All require different set ups to work the best.

I plan on buying new 4" springs for the rear, and a 2" shackle flip, and new 6" front springs. Right now I have worn out 4" springs in the front and worn out stockers in the rear with blocks.
