Going to put some 33's on my '91 Burb. I'm definetly wanting to go with a mud terrain. Here are my three options so far

1)BFG mud terrains KMO
2 Cooper Discoverer STT
3) Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac

Any real world reviews on any of these. The Burb will be mainly street driven with and occasional muddy/dirt/gravel road. I will only put about 4-5000 miles a year on it. It's just a second toy vehicle. I'm also up for any other suggestions in a mud terrain. I know an A/T would be more ideal, but I want the look of the M/T.

On a side note- 700R4 with 33's and 4.56 gears. Does this sound about right?

I vote for the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. A few buddies of mine have them, and they have zero complaints. As far as I can tell, they ride better than traditional Mud tires too.

4.56 with 33's and 700R4? That will be OK I think, but after just putting 4.56's in my Suburban with 35's, they may be a little deep for most highway driving. Depends on your primary usage :) I feel like I could have gone 4.88 even with mine, but I don't drive fast.

I'm reading some good reviews on the Goodyears. I'm leaning towards those right now. We'll see what some others have to say.:waytogo:

I'd look into Mickey Thompson ATZ or MTZ tires. I have both and they amazing. Cooper tires owns Mickey Thompson and the STT shares the same carcass as the ATZ and MTZ. I'd rate both tires the same but I'd say the ATZ is a little better in snow (both are excellent) while the MTZ is a little better in mud. But both have great on road manners. The ATZs are just slightly quieter though.

This is the ATZ on my Tahoe in metric equivalent 33":

If they made duratracs in bigger sizes it would be my next tire. I haven't meant anyone who didn't love them

Have run Duratracs and love them for an all around tire. A little pricey up here but woth it and have good tread life. MTZs are second choice, ran them too. Better off road but a little noisier on. Third choice would be Fun Countries. Haven't tried the new ones but the FC2s were great except on ice, but doubt you see much of that.

I have duratracs on my F-350 best tire out there. Great traction and wear like iron.

I have ran the cooper stt for over TEN yrs. GREAT tire! Good off road, good street manners. good self cleaning in the mud, good in powder snow, sucks on ice and hard pack snow.

I recently fell in love with a new mistress.
The dick cepek fun country. Cooper also owns them and they share the same carcass as the stt and the mickeys. This reason is the reason I choose to them. The other reason is I just wanted to try something else after ten and half years and multiple sets of the stt. It will be a tough choice next time. The cepek's seem high priced at first but really are only a few more bucks per tire then the stt's.

I have no personal experience... BUT when I asked the guy at 4 wheel parts about the GoodYear MTR's, pro comp Xtreme-MT and the Mickey's, he said "Nope, you want the duras."
