Best Muffler?

First of all my truck is burning oil, does that hurt the cat? I got a big hole in my dynomax muffler (single 3") so I cut off the exhaust after the cat. It's pretty loud right now, i'm assuming it's illegal. What cheap muffler and pipe should I go with? Should I get a flowmaster or should I just get whatever Midas or Meinike has?

If you are looking for a cheap muffler, go down to your local parts house and get a turbo muffler. It shouldn't run you more than $30. I think the one I bought for an old Ranger I had was $18. They aren't loud or near as aggresive as a Flowmaster or other performance muffler, but they will flow better than stock, and still have a little grumble to them.
