You should have room under/behind everything to fit those. I'd look and see if it lists dimensions of the "box" part and then see if you can measure just to be sure.

On a side note, I put 4 point harnesses in the front of mine within a month of buying it. I just plain didn't trust a lap belt with that steering wheel there. If I were to hit something I'd have had a nice steering wheel sammich, and I just wasn't too interested in that. Just a thought.

Thanks man, how did you get 4 points in the bench seat? Do you happen to have any pics?

I have buckets up front and bench in the rear. I only did harnesses in the front because 1: I normally don't have passengers in the back and 2: there's nothing to hit your face on in the back:D

For the front though, I mounted each side of the 4 point through the stock holes where just the lap belts were. I can get some pics tomorrow if you want. It's so dark right now even with the light on you wouldn't be able to see anything...

I would think a bench would be easy with the harnesses though. Just run the belt portion through the seat like the factory lap belts and then drape the shoulder belts over the back of the seat.

Very cool. Pics would be great if you get a chance.

What belts did you go with?

Btw ... I'm lovin your truck man.

I just got some generic 4 points off ebay. They do fine, but when I do my cage I want to put 4 corbeau suspension seats in it so I'll move the harnesses I have now to the back and buy some nice cam locks for the front.

I'll grab you some pics tomorrow.

Sorry to jump in your thread... I am seat belt shopping too. I have a 74 Blazer with bucket seats in the front. Hopefully Z71paramedic can answer yours and my question in one reply.

Is this the type seatbelt you are using?

It doesnt look like the shoulder straps would be long enough to reach the factory floor mounts?

It does look as if it would work with the bench seat as well in the 72. What do you think?

Thanks for your reply!

Those are exactly what I have. They're very long. I used to have them looped over the roll bar (before I cut it out).

You guys are brave....

I'm not sure I'd be willing to buy a "generic" uncertified seatbelt for myself or my family.

Seatbelts are a critical safety item, I'd be getting the best I could afford....and probably not off eBay.

The other consideration for the early trucks is that we don't have any headrests in the seats so going with a 4-point harness that holds you much more firmly in the seat is going to transfer a lot more neck-snapping force into your head. When you start making changes to the restraint system, you need to think about the way the whole system is going to work.

I plan go eventually go to a high quality 4-point harness system, but I am also planning to add some removeable headrests that connect to the rollcage to that I'm better protected during a serious rollover or accident.

Spend some time thinking about your attachment points too... They need to be reinforced and strong, and there are also some very specific requirements for the height of the shoulder strap mounts to make them effective and safe.

Yes, I am not trying to bust anyone's balls about this but the safety stuff is really important.

Here's a link to a good writeup on the considerations for mounting 4-point harnesses.... you'll notice that even with a good quality set of harnesses there are a number of pitfalls and ways to install things wrong.

The harnesses I have are just webbing, same as the factory lap belts. Plus you can (and would) still get whiplash with lap belts in addition to the broken face from eating the steering wheel. I realize my setup isn't ideal, but in my opinion it's better than just lap belts. I fully intend to get racing seats with better mounting to the cage when I build it, but I think at the moment I'm at least a little better off than factory. Either way I drive it safely which is the biggest part. I don't tailgate, try not to speed, turn at appropriate speeds for a large lifted truck on bias ply tires. I realize someone could hit ME, but most accidents are avoidable IMO

Here are the pics of mine.

Dude, I don't think there will be much damage if someone hits you, they are going to go right under your truck :haha::haha:
