Any recommendations on a good drive shaft builder? How much should I expect to pay? It will have 1410 joints.

Unless it's something really unique (i.e. parts that are not commonly available) I would suggest finding a local shop with a decent reputation.

I only know of one locally, don't know much of their reputation. If you get what you pay for their drive shafts should be the best on earth :haha:.
They are a certified Dana/Spicer dealer though. It's pretty much a simple shaft, rear x to a fixed yoke t-case. it will run 1410 joints so i don't know what they have to do for tube size. It's roughly 50" long. They told me $550.

High Angle Driveline

I called Jesse on a holiday weekend. Not only did he take my call he walked me through measuring correctly for the driveline. Then helped me with the available options for my particular setup and if I remember correctly it was at my house before the next weekend.

Mine rear shaft with a cv flange and 1350's was around $370 I believe. I'd have to break out the receipts to be sure.

Another vote for jesse, Asked me what I had, lift, axle, transfercase and told me what angle my driveline was running at just like that. He was right on too. I think mine was $550 shipped and worth every penny, This thing is beef!

after i pretzeled my stock shaft at rausch i got my new one from a local shop, rebuilt parts in pennsauken nj. 1350s, extra long HD splines and thick wall tube. w/ a new forged pinion yoke and a couple extra joints it came out to about $450.

i could park this on a rock now and i don't think it would hurt it.

Of the "mail order" places, most people seem to like HAD for quality/durability - how do his prices stack up? Answers that start with "if you want the best" aren't helpful. :deal: :D

I think HAD is probably a tad bit more expensive than most local shops. I don't know that they are the best but I think Jess's knowledge base is one of the things you are banking on. I would bet I could find a local shop that would build an identical shaft to my HAD shaft for a bit less, but do I know that they really know what they are doing? Maybe they are just as good, maybe not. For me it was not so much that the HAD shaft is the best quality, although they are very good, it was that I was getting a shaft that came from somebody who is very familiar with off-roading and knew their business.

Just got my new Tom Woods in the mail yesterday. Double Cardan CV Flange 1410 u-joints. Shipped to my door was $459. Ordered it on Monday, talked to Tom and he said it would be at my door Friday, which it was.

Square driveshaft :D I couldn't bring myself to blow 500 bucks on a drive shaft that I don't need. Thats only for the front though.

Also you could just order splined bushings and shaft from grob, and the get the rest of the parts at a truck place. It's not too hard to make one up. If you have a slip yoke that would make it even easier.
