Where is the best place to buy aftermarket parts. Is NPD the place to go for Blazer parts? I'm just starting a build and I'm looking for body mounts and a few other parts? I have an NPD magazine but it doesn't really spell out Blazer.

LMC, Brothers Truck, USA 1, classic parts - chevy duty truck

We cover about everything for the 1969-72 but on the 73-87 we don't have a ton of the interior items but we do offer a significant amount of 73-91 Blazer Jimmy body panels, patch panels, Precision brand weather striping, etc.... Check us out sometime.

FixMyRust carries Key Parts. In my research it seems that they provide the correct thickness panels and I've heard, they use the original GM dies (can't verify that though. but the restoration shops I've been to say they use the GM dies so they fit the best) and shops told me we would save money over other parts since the Key Parts fit right and they don't spend as much time installing the panels.

YMMV, just throwing out another option.

Also, when my son contacted FixMyRust they told him could just pay the $200 oversize shipping on one part that covered all the parts, not $200 per over sized part. Example: He was going to purchase two bedsides along with rockers, floors etc., and he would only pay the over sized fee once, not per bed side. (Disclaimer: he hasn't purchased the bedsides yet.) He has bought a lot of their parts and they seem to be really high quality.

We went mainly off restoration shop recommendations which surprised me since more than one shop recommended Key Parts..Some shops did say they could make any parts work but they preferred Key Part if given the option. I was surprised they even knew about the various parts manufacturers.

I'm sure there are other sources for good quality parts as well though. Just relating our experiences. Good Luck with your build.

Key Parts is a supplier of parts not a manufacturer and they are one of our 3 primary sheet metal providers. They primarily carry sheet metal panels stamped by Apex and Tri-Plus which are manufacturers in Taiwan. They aren't using GM dies, they are making dies from original GM parts. We've been supplying them and other business's with a large variety of parts to get reproduced since 2002. A good example is we supplied them with both the L&R 69-71 & 1972 Blazer OEM door shells, and the 1967-71 & 1972 Suburban door shells in order for those to be reproduced around 8-10 years ago. We continue to this day shipping OEM parts to them and others for reproduction and to help correct reproduction issues. We just recently sent out within the last 30-45 days L&R 69-72 GMC headlight bezels and a 71-72 GMC grille as the reproduction bezels aren't fitting the OEM grilles quite correctly and the OEM GMC headlight bezels aren't fitting the reproduction grille quite correctly so they are using the originals to see what's slightly off to correct the issue. When it comes to shipping most everyone including ourselves combine shipping parts onto a single skid to reduce costs instead of shipping them individually. Which is why we put on most of our truck freight items this statement in the part description

**TRUCK FREIGHT ONLY** PRE-PAID MINIMUM TRUCK FREIGHT is $135.00 to a Business, $185.00 To A Residential address. We will contact you with freight costs by email before shipping for approval if above minimum billed or email us at [email protected] for a shipping quote. When ordering multiple truck freight items or truck freight & oversized items together please contact for a accurate freight quote as our shopping cart is unable to calculate multiple items shipping truck freight correctly in most instances.

So our shopping cart might prepopulate minimum freight costs of $135.00 on 4 items=$540.00 , but we then get a freight quote based on skid size & actual weight rather than going by the minimums. A entire bed kit to California to a business generally runs around $400.00 and to a residence around $100.00more.

I just bought weatherstrip from GMCPaul, good price but more importantly they shipped it out first thing the next morning. Like 6 hours after I ordered it, that's great service and should be noted.

Paul, I did say, "I heard" since the info I provided was going off what two body shop/restoration shops told me. That's why I also stated "can't verify that" too. I do appreciate your setting the record straight for me. I always learn more from the mistakes I post than from the things I get right. Again, I appreciate your post. Thanks for the information. As for the shipping, I just went off what the guy there told my son. I thought it sounded too good to be true but, again, that's what the guy told him. Just glad he didn't order the large parts and get a rude awakening.I trust your knowledge and know from many posts that you provide quality parts.

Trukman1 I realized you were only passing on information you had been provided. Any reports though of GM tooling being used to make Any part should not be believed. During production runs GM will wear out multiple sets of tooling which is why you find crisper lines on some vehicles than others, then by the time they near final production they try to time it so there latest tooling is nearly worn out and needs replacing and then stamp additional runs of the various parts for replacement parts stock till the tooling's completely worn out and it's retired. Now there are some stamping tooling's that don't wear out completely but those are generally related to trim tooling used on light duty aluminum etc... or casting toolings for cast parts.
Now there is some companies that purchase GM specialty manufacturing equipment used to manufacture items such as ACI's American Cushions Industries purchase of GM's production machine to make the wire assemblies for seat foam that has it embedded in foam, or the original A/C Delco tooling for headlight switches and ignition switches which were sold to a manufacturer that's currently using it to make them in Mexico. Although that manufacturer has mismanaged there business and are probably closing but thankfully a manufacturer in PA is trying to purchase it so were not stuck with just the Asian version.
In regards to shipping they were probably referring to the fact that bedsides due to their length result in a freight oversize floor charge which the oversized space of skid and it's cost for being oversized quite often allows up to 300-400 lbs to be shipped on that 1 skid without price increasing, where as the same size skid weighing only 90lbs would still cost the same. Thus 2 bedsides can ship for same cost as 1 in most instances, then as you add additional parts the weight exceeds the weight allowed for the oversized skid and freight cost begins to increase then based on its weight rather than skid size. Hope that made sense.

GMCPaul, Yup! Makes perfect sense to me. Thanks for the information. trukman1

I've purchased body parts for my 72 Blazer project from @GMCPaul with good luck and a few misc. small parts from others. A lot of parts like the reinforcement plates will need to be sourced used as they are not reproduced.

My son has purchased some parts from @GMCPaul and Classic Industries for his '72 truck. The outer rocker panels don't have the correct slope in the lip where it meets the bottom edge of the door. And the recess for the front corner of the door to swing into isn't correct. There are 3 original trucks around here to compare to with templates, so we are being very meticulous about this.

I will say that GMCPaul's has great customer service, Classic Industries always answered the phone in a timely manner when I have yet to get in touch with an actual person at Brother's. I get tired of being on hold for over 5 minutes. And I don't want to set up another online account...

Supposedly Goodmark boby panels were reproduced from GM stamping dies that were refurbished or redone or something. I checked, still shows K5 Blazer full body replacement panels. Short bed pickup bed sides too. I want new 73’ K5 Bed sides to do the wheel wheel like I want.
