Where have you guys had the best luck advertising your trucks for sale? I put it on Craigslist the other day simply because it is free, but is it worth spending $70 to put it on truck trader . com? Should I put it in the newspaper? The local Recycler magazine? Just leave it in a parking lot near a busy intersection with for sale signs in the windows? Let a local car lot sell it on consignment and take 10% off the top? I've sold countless motorcycles with CL, but they have always been on the cheap side, the truck is a pretty high $$$ item. I'm open to suggestions.:ears:

CL can go either way. Iv'e sold a few things there with the usual tire kickers, no shows, scammers and general time wasters. I've also completely wasted my time on there as well and got no sale, just the other bs. You will ALWAYS get the other bs.

I've also had good/bad luck with ebay. Sold one old Volvo 240 to a guy in Maryland. He was coming up to Boston for business, once he was done I met him at the bus terminal and he drove it home. Sold another Volvo 850 local, guy was buying it for his daughter's first car. Went to sell my 04 2500HD with a relatively low opening bid for what it was worth and got zero interest. Listed it a couple times, nothing.

Real people looking for real vehicles will look in the right places. Most everyone on cl and, to a lesser extent, ebay is looking for something for nothing. It's been my experience that if you want to sell something like a high dollar car/truck then you will have to pay to get results.

i would park it in a high traffic area, put an ad in the paper, and an ad on CL. heck even try ebay if you dont want to waste money on the paper or an autotrader website

True dat. You ALWAYS get major BS with CL - scammers, no shows, lowballers, time wasters and overall morons. If you're prepared to deal with that, it's not a bad way to go, since the ads are free and all.

I might spring for a paid ad if I was selling a big-ticket item, though. It might get your truck noticed by more serious potential buyers.

CL and pirate are the best markets to get your truck sold. Im suprised the other sites still get used imo

I've had ok luck with CL...better luck with selling stuff than buying in some cases. Found a guy parting out a k5 recently and was going to buy both fenders and the side glass out of the top and told him I may even buy a few other things...had cash and told him to let me know the address and best time to come and he never replied. I thiink the area you are looking in on CL makes a difference as well, at least around here. I've had better results with Charlotte, NC than Columbia, SC...I'm directly between both.

What are you selling?

If it`s nice, you are usually better with a payed add.

I would NOT leave it an any corner for sale unless you want to get it stolen.

Also ck5 is a great place... what do you got?

I've had great luck with eBay selling nice vehicles! It's the quickest, easiest way to find a person looking for your specific vehicle... Expensive, but worth it in my opinion. I've had nothing but bad luck buying and selling anything on CL, to the point I rarely even go on there anymore...

You can post it on our sister site TowRig.com for free in the for sale section.

How do you like those Cepek F-C IIs?

They are my favorite sand tire only second to a paddle. I actually had these on my K5 for a few runs but decided I wanted just a bit more aggressive since the K5 rides on a trailer anyway... and the dodge was due for tires anyway. They do well offroad, I got up rocker knocker in Moab in 1 attempt with these tires. They are quieter than a BFG AT on the highway and seem to be wearing well. For a DD/mild offroader, I would definately buy them again. They are a bit steep on price in the larger sizes, but 35" and down are comparable to most other brand AT's.

I've had decent luck with local 4x4 clubs and Craigslist. When I sold my K30 last year I put it on every CL site within 2 hours or so of where it was and priced it right. Had it sold in 3 days for a good price.

Here's the CL ad: http://santamaria.craigslist.org/cto/2533294928.html I'm kinda surprised that I haven't recieved text messages offering me $40 and an old couch cheeto yet, normally it only takes a day to get those!

I'll give you my take on it. You are listing your truck for essentially retail pricing based on NADA values.

I know you have upgrades but like it or not you get about .10-.20 cents on the dollar unless you find an enthusiast that wants exactly your upgrades.

Retail pricing IMO is sit on it pricing? What benifit do you give your customers over walking into a dealership? You can get that pricing but you need to be prepared to sit on it for a while until you find someone willing to pay retail. You limit your potential buyers when doing this.

If you want to move the truck quickly I find pricing at NADA trade in value moves things fairly quickly.

I priced it at $1500 less than retail and based on your .10-.20 on the dollar figure for add ons, I should have added $1k-$2k more still. I'm not trying to sit on this forever and I don't think my truck is made of gold, but I'd like to get a fair price and all that I have to go by are KBB/Nada (I swear the KBB/ Nada values fluctaute daily now) and local comparables which I seem to be on par or better with. What does the brotherhood figure fair market value on this would be?:dunno:
