the trans in my '84 k5 took a dump a while back and I need a new one. I've weighed my options and I've decided to stick with a 700r4 since my rig is stock and it's my primary vehicle though I was looking for an upgraded HD version.

so what is a good company to order one from? I was looking a bowtieoverdrives.com and monstertransmission.com but I wanted to make sure I was ordering from a good company before I droped the dough.

I had a local shop rebuild mine with heavy duty parts for about the same price I could buy one outright. That included removing and reinstalling it too.

Go to bowtieoverdrives.com. They have a level 2 for around $1000 and is pretty beefy. Give em a look atleast

Dik

yeah I was checking them out but their level 2 is $1300 and their tourque converter is $200 and I don't even know what their shipiing and core charge is.

monstertransmission.com has a level 2 for $1100 $120 for the tourque converter and free shipping to a fed-ex warehouse (wich is a short drive for me) and no core charge. so if I'm leaning towards them

I second the bowtie vote. Great transmissions and fantastic service.

They have no core charge.

My opinion is that you get what you pay for with this kind of thing.

BowTie builds good trannys. i recomend them
also
Have you checked with GM? IIRC their 4l60 is priced good. 4L60 is the same as a 700R4 but with all the upgrades

well I know all of you said that bowtieoverdrives.com was a good company but I think I'm going to go with monstertransmision.com based on some other reasearch and the price difference. specifically this one along with a new tourque converter

I was wondering if there was anything else I should be getting to go with the whole setup?

Will you give us examples or more info on where to research the company's bad reputation?

I'm in the market for a built TH400.

Thanks,
Mike
