Best place to get parts

Dealer when I can because I get it at cost. Other then that it's pretty much the same stuff no matter where you get it, although orielly's uses OE parts a lot in a different box.

Last time I went to NAPA was for a set of bearings. I wanted Timken but the guy behind the counter said their bearings were from Mexico. Even brought it out to show me. Told me confidentially they had a corporate policy to buy from vendors in Mexico or China first to maximize profits. Can't say he was right or not but I left without their Mexican bearings.
Went to Advance and got Timkens. Others have told me they had no problem getting name brand parts there but I sure couldn't get Timkens there that trip.YMMV.

It all depends on what you are looking for.

Rockauto - New parts
swap meets/ebay/ CL - NOS GM
Pick and Pull - used parts
GM parts direct - New GM

The cost savings with rock auto is crazy sometimes. I priced out $600 worth of gaskets, seals, steering pump, water pump, etc for my LS that is going into my 59 apache. The same parts list and much of it even the exact same part (brand) from a old timey parts store that my girlfriends brother works at, Sure Fire (a division of carquest I guess) was like $800 and that was even with me eating the cost on the core for the rock auto steering pump.

Oh, and always google "rock auto 5% discount code" if you don't already have one. The first search result will usually give you an active code
