So I gotta get new tires. Currently running 37x12.5x16.5 surplus tires. Anyone got any hookups?

Trail Worthy Fab has some good prices, but shipping to ID might be a little spendy

Edit: just saw your not in ID anymore, but Star Valley isn't that much farther from where you were, so still applicable, haha

Yah shipping it looks like from most places is around 50 a tire.

Tread wright has free shipping on their retread 37s right now.

The places that cost more for the takeoffs pressure test and inspect the tire. I have seen some cheap places that offer no warrenty and say the tire may have sidewall cracking dry rot uneven wear or other issues.

Going through what I have right now to see what I can sell.

might want to check with Rich and swetty, they got a pretty good deal not long ago.

I think they might have bought them from the ebay vendor that was discussed in a thread recently. They were around $700 for a set of 98% tread IIRC.

Yes the seller was on ebay.

he was using Feltz tire out of Wisconsin..

Yeah we got them from Feltz.... I got a set of five with 70% plus tread for 350 bucks...

that's where I get mine....

I figured opposite coast, feltz would be cheaper..

tho I'm amazed at shipping... Mutt's 6 on a pallet in the fall was like $95 shipping to work... :eek1: :thumb:

I run Baja's.. I'm actually gonna call in a couple weeks about getting 4 more 90/95%.....

Hadn't heard of treadwright, but find it interesting that their 37x12.5-16.5 picture says Nitto Terra Grappler...? Anyone know anything about that?

Josh

you probably already know this but

check the dot date codes .

last 4 #'s

3304 = 33 week of 2004
5112 = 51st week of 2012

for examples.

still lots of old ass mil tires out there .

Yah man this worries me some. I gotta get some stuff up for sale. I have friends who have had Tread wright tires if I can sell enough stuff gonna go that way I think. Only a 150 bucks more than alot of the old mtrs because Tread wright has free shipping right now. We shall see how much cash I can drum up

treadwright tires are remolded old casings .

checked / buffed down / prepped like a recap .

but new rubber is spun on them and then inserted in a mold machine just like a new tire .

so there is no way of knowing the age of the casing . and if your getting 4 matched casings also . unless there 100% honest and write this info inside the tire before buffing it all off .

Still a lot of 3-digit (pre-2000 or 2001, IIRC) date codes running around on the roads, too. :doah:

So to bump this up. After talking with treadwright I decided against those. Zero warrenty on the 37s. Like zero.
I realize there isn't on a used tire either but I am aware of the retreading process and things can go wrong.

I had Keith go down and look at the tires Boyce equipment had for sale. They were 500 for 80% MTs. And that was for ones that were more than 10 years old.

A local guy I know has ordered several sets of surplus from a guy who sells on ebay. They are the MTRs and he advertises them as 80% tread and they all have newer than 10 years date codes. Buddy says every set he has gotten has been closer to 90 to 95% tread. Couple of em even looked brand new. So 4 of those shipped to my buddies work is 588.

Sold my 2.0 sway aways for way less than I should have and will have tires on the way on Monday
