The 3 row half plugged radiator didn't wanna keep up with 4-5K RPM and 2' of snow for long periods last weekend and need to add some cooling capacity. Am running dual electric fans that seem to push plenty of air. I could probably find a 4 core radiator out of a junkyard truck easy enough but are there decent aluminum alternative that people have had good luck with fitting and using?

I run a 6.2 radiator. Has plenty of cooling for a gasser. Also has a trans and engine oil cooler. Was a bit of a pain to fit in my rig though. Had to cut out the bottom of the support. But I do have a 98' truck front on a 78' blazer. Think it'd go in just fine if it were a later model.

I had a good 4 row radiator out of my old 83 but it was too tall for the 71. Would prefer to find one that just fit in since i've already cut alot out of the rad support to fit the winch and all.

The stock 4-rows are pretty cheap new from radiators.com. It's where I got mine and it cools way better than the 3-row in the summer time.

:haha: yeah, never had so much trouble keeping thing's cool than when wheeling in the winter.

I've had great luck with stock 4-core rads myself.

You running a shroud?

yeah its windstar fans and the shroud fits the radiator nicely. Didn't get warm till I was braking trail and workin the engine hard. Was running 5000 rpm for probably 2-3 minutes straight and only moving 2 mph. Its gotten warm once in the summer too but was same kinda deal. Prob just be fine buying a new 4 core factory style?

This place had aluminum replacements for 67-72 chevy trucks for $199. They aren't showing any at this time though. I've seen a few other guys on another site i'm on use them. I plan on buying one for my 67 when i get to that point of the build.

Yeah 98' front clip with fiberglass fenders. Sorry for the confusion. This is befor any cutting. Notice the rad sticks up over the grill.

My radiator sticks above my grille also. You should the the new radiator i just put in there. The neck sticks up a good ways. Thought it'd hit my hood but had no clearance issues

that's a pretty neat rig man. Got a buildup somewhere??

It might fit if the hood wasn't fiberglass also. But it does touch. Have to cut for some clearance.:hack:

Going to start one soon. Bought it from HOPPER last July. Just to damn lay-z. I'll get to going now.
