Best riding springs?

I did the hydro cheepy shocks on stubby j.r. years ago as I was on a budget . then I got some ford 250/350 front take off monro shocks that fit our trucks for 4" lift and I got 2 new monro for the rear and wow what a difference. the hydro cheepy ones I removed were not blown out ether.

ye that's were I got the info years ago .

used the ford front for my 3" tuff country hd lifted front on my k30 plow truck . then same model shock in stock rear application no lift length change . but 4 new tabs welded to the axle tube on rear around 4" higher than oem low hanging mounts.
 
Not sure why all the hatred towards the Rough Country 4" springs. With a big block, winch, and winch bumper, I think they are alright for the price. Rough Country shocks are junk though. I added the weight of the big block, winch, and bumper to the front of my truck to see how the ride was gonna be. The 4" Rough Country springs are not bad then.

my buddy has a 6" rough country kit front / rear springs .

full load of firewood in 8ft bed to the top of cab and the springs barly moved he said .

were not saying there all bad or o.k. but for off the shelf smoth ride for most people there not. cause the leafs are so thick .

I too have a BBC, pto winch, front winch deck/bumper and run Rough Country 4" lift on my K30. It has been on the truck for 20yrs, and now I have 2 1/2" lift. The springs are now totally straight with no arch. Ride is ok with all the weight up front. I have no complaints. It flexes ok and I can nearly tuff the wheel into the firewall at full flex, Mostly mud/snow and twisty forest trails for me.

With old worn out shocks it was a softer ride. I got a deal on some new Rancho's 2yrs ago and now it is a rough ride again. So as others say, get good shocks. I'll may go to some other shocks like Bilsteins soon as I do the Ford shock tower conversion.

I was also thinking of maybe going with adjustable shocks like the Rancho 9000 or ProComp MX6. ORD ran the MX6 on their mild Suburban build which you can find on their website.

Probably because their spring rate on 4" springs is nearly double that of some of the softer springs and its apparent in the ride.
 
I knew when I bought my springs that Tuff Country had the softest spring rate. I believe they were followed by BDS springs. I figured I was gonna need a slightly higher spring rate due to the big block swap and the Off Road Design bumper I wanted with a Warn 12,000 lb winch. I just added tractor weights to the front to make up the difference and took it for a ride. I don't run the front sway bar at this time and I think if the springs were any softer I would need to use it.

I use Tuff Country springs on my Dodge step sid truck and they do flex very well. I cannot comment on the ride as the truck still is not running yet.

what :dunno: up with bds ?

had lots of good luck and tech support with them over the years installing there products .

and if you don't like bds then don't buy zone lift kits . its there off brand . still a good product and just no fancy options . I have installed more of these than bds and no problems.
 
never said the springs wheren't decent, tho honestly that company seems dead in recent yr's, you don't hear sh*t about them....

I just remember a bunch of stories from 4 or 5 yr's ago about complete douchnozzley customer service from them.. that where f*cked up enough that I said I would NEVER support them..

kinda like Ballistic..
