Hey K-5er's,
1987 K-5 used for all around 4X4 fun & towing. Not intending to build a rock crawler or bash it up in the trees.
I'm in the process of swapping out my 10 bolts for a Dana 44 front & GM 14 bolt FF rear. The 14 bolt FF is open with 3.73's and thin ring gear. If I understand correctly, since it has a thin ring gear, I believe I will have to get a new carrier when installing 4.56 R & P and locker. Am I correct?
I have also noticed that there is a bit of variation in prices and manufactures in R & P's and lockers. I am looking for sage advice from my fellow K-5 enthusiasts on which ones to stay away from and who they've found the best deals through.
