spent about 150 bucks on the tires i traded for this! the cable was not up to my spec but was still ok. where can i get a nice non synth cable?

oh its a warn XD9000 :D im pretty stoked! it fits between the frame rails which is NICE cause i really like my bumper, gotta figure out the mount for it and keeping the bumper.

how do you like it? ive never seen one of these before, id like to get a good idea of the thing before i use it. ive been checkin out the exploded diagrams on the warn site. pretty cool setup.

Scott, do you have a gallery where i could see some pics of the winch?

I don't have any pics of it. I've only had to use it once (on someone else) it worked flawlessly.

I would highly recommend rope over cable but if you don't want to spend the money on synthetic then recovery gear has cheap cable (I've never used them, so I don't know much about them).

id go with the syn rope as well...its roughly 10-20% stronger than wire n ALOT safer...jus save ur money and get syn rope...my winch has 5/16th cable and is rated for 17,500lbs, whereas the same size rope is good for 21,500lbs...more like 40% stronger...jus my .02

well i read that the synthetic cable can melt with the heat of the winch motor, how do yall more experienced guys feel about that. i dont mind the price of the synth really, i just want to be sure and have a long life out of it.

sorry bout the misprint in my thread...I've got 7/16th cable...wire cable is good for 17,600 and syn rope is good up to 40,000lbs(masterpull superline)
they come with a 10' heat resistant cover for the 1st layer of the drum...I've read nothing but good things about syn rope

My winch is an 8274, it doesn't build any heat at the drum like planetary winches so I haven't had any issues with melting the rope.

If you let your winch get hot enough to melt rope you are seriously overusing your winch.
