I am planning on buying an adjustable pressure regulator, and I want to add a fuel pressure gauge on my cowl. Who is the best source?

Are the 350 and 454 adjustable regulators interchangeable?

Martin

So that is who you go through? This isn't exactly the replies I was looking for.

Martin

Who people have used, and their experiences. Most TBI places seem like they are fly by night operations.

RV Morse has been around 15 years or so and just got a good writeup...

I agree with you though, a lot have faded away. Not like the market for 17 year old and older TBI is a big business anymore.

Bump. So what parts would you recommend. I want to do an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and I would also like to add a fuel pressure gauge on the cowl of my Suburban.

The engine is a 350 with flat tops, an LT1 cam, Vortec heads (the lesser casting), 1.5 ratio roller rockers, GMPP Vortec TBI intake, cheapo full length headers with dual 2.5" exhaust, no EGR.

I was thinking a 454 throttle body, but would a bored out 350 throttle body be sufficient? I want to get all of this on there, and would then eventually like to take it to the local (relatively speaking) dyno shop and have a chip burned.

I purchased all of my TBI parts, to include the bored out TBI from http://marine-performance-parts.com/index.aspx commonly known as cfm-tech.com

If this isn't exactly the reply you are looking for then use the search engine. There are tons of post about hoping up TBI engine.

Mark is one of the smartest guys here when it comes to TBI/TPI performance tuning.

Check that dyno and see if they will do a Chip, most don't. Also if they will tune for driving? Most just do WOT! With a laptop, emulater and a wireless connection I can do remote desktop and do the WOT tune at the dyno as well.

You could see results with bigger throttle body, but is your intake bored for it? The GMMP Vortec intake for TBI I looked up is for standard 5.7L TBI, so bigger bores won't help and throttle blades hit intake.

If your intake is for carb then with correct adapter it can be done. I've got a rebuilt 7.4L TBI base for sale if you need one. New bushings.

What were your experiences with that company? With their parts?

The search function sucks on here.

Yeah, my intentions were to open up the intake manifold to match whichever throttle body I went with. The guy from RV Morse said there was no need for a spacer with the GMPP intake.

Will the 7.4 throttle body even work with this intake?

not to go too off-topic but, it often helps tremendously with searchs if you put your search term in quotes..

as for tbi stuff.. cfm tech treated me fine yrs ago, but that recent thread said they wheren't as good now...

you could homebrew the adjustable, but i opted for buying.. be prepared to be annoyed adjusting it tho, difficult to get to, but doable...

Yeah, I am not too worried about the search. I would rather just start a new thread specific to what I am interested in. It doesn't hurt anything.

As for the adjustable regulator, have you ever done the home made version? I would imagine it is more convenient than that? What did you all use to run your pressure gauge on the cowl? It seems the only way that mounting one makes sense, besides using an isolator and mounting one in cab. If you can see it while operating the vehicle, it really isn't that great of a tool.

Martin

absolutely.. and to be honest, I'm the only one in the forum that I know of running a viewable pressure gauge... the isolators can be pricey.. my setup works flawless...

the only adapter i know of is that one from cfm tech.. it's just a small alum, male/female with a 1/8 npt hole on the side... i just run autometers hose off that

up to a sport comp....

oh, the adjustable.. no, i haven't made one, did see a write up on it.. basically welding a nut and putting a bolt in.. i couldn't be bothered tho and just bought one...

Don't the early 454 TBI throttle bodies use a base plate with one of the sensors in it?
