So in my adventue of trying to get my truck to pass smog, I am now working on my EGR system. What is the best way to clean out the EGR ports? Someone told me to use a old garage door spring. Any other ideas?

?????????????

drill bits or a punch or a pick or a file or die grinder or all of the above... have to get in there and break that crap out. I have never done it with the intake on the motor, but if you do you may want to give it hell with a shop vac when you're done just to make sure no little pieces of crap are floating around in there. Have fun.

Really think it needs to be cleaned on a 90? My 94 had 185k on it, replaced the EGR once, cleaned the mating surface, and ran it. No issues.
