best way to get scatches out?

Ok guys, not chevy related but it can apply to them anyways.

I got a 2005 bright red toyota tacoma, never done anything with the paint other than washing it. Well I used to take my dog to work with me everyday and she scratched the crap out of the bedsides having her paws hanging over the edge. The wife drives the tacoma now and I drive the old chevy, so now the wife wants the scratches out, I was wanting to see what i could do about them tomorrow.

They arent into the primer, just surface scratches. What is the best method to remove them?

Also what is a good wax for newer paint?

your gonna want a wheel... a foam pad is best for the novice, but a wool pad works just as well..

it's always best to try the least aggressive cut first... maybe try a little Finesse It on there.. 3M product... slow to med speeds for removal... higher speeds to gloss up. be careful of bodylines, or you'll burn thru.... they can be taped off...

you may need to step it up in grit and go with a white clearcoat compound first... orange lacquer compound such as 3M Superduty is the most aggressive....

either way, you'll need a polish/glaze to take out the swirl from the compound... The Finesse It is awesome for that....

If all else fails, you can wetsand a little first with some 1000 grit, than 1200 and buff...

a pure carnuba wax is best... I prefer a cream wax to paste waxes..various brands out there, Mothers, 3M, etc...

If they arent too bad you should try some Meguiars Scratch X first. I used it on the roof of my car where the stupid moonroof wind deflector scratched it all to hell and you can barely tell where it was. It takes a little while though.

Edit: It comes in a black tube with Scratch X in big red letters.

OH,YEAH. i have some deep scratches in my ferd. so ..... i just wax the hell outta e'm and they disapeer for a week.
