I have a new 1.75 PSC hydro assist ram that I'm adding and I'm trying to decide between mounting it to the diff cover or strait to the axle. I like the idea of mounting it to the diff cover, DIY has a cool diff cover that has the mount built into it but I'm wondering with the force of the ram can the diff cover keep a good seal? It would be a pain if I had to reseal it after every trail run. Let me know if you have had a good or bad experience with mounting the ram to the diff cover. BTW this is on a D60 w/ crossover and a HD tierod in the stock position.

I cant say from personal use due to my full hydro is welded to the tie rod and axle tube.

A good freind did it to his diff cover and always had a leak. I think Steve Fox had a problem with his also.

Why not mount it to the axle tube and the tie rod?

I dont have any input for you but ive been wondering the same thing, I have the same setup as you, but Im got a 1.5 ram im putting on. I like DIY's cover but its sooo much with the ram mount. Has anyone just used a stock cover and add like a ring on the outside of the cover or something?

I have the PSC kit and I have it to the the axle and tie rod. Some what protected too. I have had no problems with it. I did not know about Kurts Diff cover till after. So who knows.

I'm definitely gonna run Kerts Razorbacks... I was gonna do the mount one, till I decided to go hi-steer... But I'll still run the regular one.. I wasn't too concerned about potential leaks.. A budget orientated fellow might just weld some racer/shock tabs to a HD stock cover..

crazy, I just odered my PSC ram today and asked on pirate about covers with tabs vs to axle, I remember steve saying he had leaks back in the day so asked if anyone else has and haven't gotten much feedback yet. I think I will just mount to axle too to be on safe side

I think it would help to have counter-sunk diff cover screws if you mount the ram to the diff cover. That way the load is carried directly by the screw heads and not by the clamping force and friction between the underside of a hex cap screw/the cover/the diff housing. Hope that makes sense. I am planning on trying it anyway.

I have a 1.5" PSC ram mounted to a ruffstuff cover with no issues at all. I just welded some tabs onto the cover and had my buddy make a steering clamp for my tie-rod.
