So, my '87 body is sweet and I would like to replace all lines, mounts and refinish the frame. What is the easiest way to remove the K5 body off the frame?

Plus, I am doing all new drive line...and the list goes on.

I can't fit it in my garage to lift the body off, I need to do it outside.

Once the front end comes off then use a gantry if you can get one and lift is from the doorways with a strap and a 2x8 that goes beyond the width of the rain gutters by an inch. I also put a come-a-long on the two tailgate hinges to help lift the rear at the same time. You can use an engine hoist to help lift the rear. Of course you need to remove the body mount bolts and the nuts at the rear two sets of bolts.

The fuel filler hose needs to be removed and the wiring needs to be undone at the cowl side of the fuse box and rear chassis plugs. If you have power tailgate you have that wiring to deal with too. You might want to remove the master off the booster also so you don't break you brake lines. Steering linkage too.

Now that I think of it, there was a lot of stuff I did when I did my body off restoration. If you look at my thread you will see pictures of how I lifted my body off and on. I luckily had an electric hoist and was able to do it in my garage. Good luck with your endeavor.

I have a second set of old doors. Should I bolt them on and strap through them?

It more the rain gutters that can get dented in somewhat that is what the board is for. The doors will just add more weight that you don't need on the body.

How about this?...................... build you 4 large stands like jackstands and get two sticks of square tube that are slightly wider than the blazer.

Jack up the body some just to clear the framerails and slide your tubing under and on your stands and roll that beast out.

This is how i did it, only had a single jack to work with so had to be creative. There are pics in my build thread

Damn, your truck was part of the mile high club.

Unfortunately for me I can't see a thing but :sign10: , this network over here is such a pos.

Seems more practical than lifting it with a hoist or somthing similar being that you wouldn't have to lift as high.
