I have a D44/12bolt set up on my '72 and I really want to get the brakes in better shape. I'm only running 35's, but I can't lock them up at all. it really feels like I should be getting better performance out of them.

also, during heavy braking it pulls to the left a bit, but only initially. after the first hard stab at the brakes, it seems to even back out. I'm assuming this is a caliper going bad. (?)

everything is pretty much stock wrt the brake system, although several years back I did swap on the wider rear brakes (2 1/2" ?).

this is a truck I've had for close to 15 years and I don't plan on ever getting rid of it, so spending some cash to do this right is fine. also, my heavy wheelin' days are behind me (probably) so I don't plan on upgrading the axles.

so, whats my best bet? replace stock calipers? get aftermarket upgrades? rear disks? bigger master cylinder?

For more power, I'd start here LINK

Sounds like you may also have either a bad caliper or some air in one of the lines.
