I got drenched today...took a shower with dish soap washed with that a few times then hand cleaner type soap and then regular soap...I still feel like it's on me

ya it sucks. I've done it. But I hate Glycol WAAAY more than hydraulic oil.

just wash, it'll go away eventually.

The machine shop I work at does a lot of hydraulic ram work and I've been drenched my fair share of times... the best thing to get it (and everything else for that matter) off your skin is Gojo. We've tried a ton of different hand cleaners at the shop but regular old Gojo ORIGINAL (don't get the weird scented or scratchy stuff) works GREAT.
Use it first without any water and rub it in then rinse it off.

if dish soap std old basic blue dawn dish soap. and get a scrub brush you can hold good in your hand/fingers and scrub also.

got 15/40 1 day in my face and hair. :doah: lucky it was new not jet black used.

should have seen the custumer walking around outside when i got clean and was rinsing off my glasses with brake cleaner. he was thinking the lenses would melt away from the brake clean on plastic. but i said i not that stupid. i only use glass lenses . :haha:

I agree with Avery and sweetk30, either one of those are my go to options. The only thing worse then being doused with hyd oil is being doused with HOT hyd oil :doah:.
I run remote controlled electric excavators, I was doing a night job in one of the court buildings in DC, about 3 hours into the shift I had a hammer return line let go about 4 feet away from me. Before I could get my finger off the trigger it had dumped just over 4 gallons all of which ended up on me. I didn't have a change of clothes with me, so I finished the shift wearing a tyvek suit over a dirty t shirt I found in my truck and my still oily boxers :doah: :doah:
I had to clean the tub/shower at home like 4 times to get the oil film out of it, ya, the wife was pissed :haha:.

I have used Tide laundry soap (powder) when all else fails and it worked pretty good.

just wanted to chime in how nasty antifreeze is. i friggin hate when i get douched with it.. and in boats, it's pretty common to get it all over your hands here and there..

the perm antifreezes like dexcool and oldschool green REALLY suck, but even the pink non-tox we use is disgusting on my hands. worse than oil imo...

yup.

I mean being a HD oilfield mechanic, I live in 15w40, 80w-90, hydraulic oil, glycol. I've bathed in all of it. 100 times over. I will literally take ANY oil running down my arm into the pit across the shoulder down the back fill the shorts. over glycol.

We use a cleaner with walnut shell abrasive in it. Its awesome. We've also got 2 SHOWERS in our change room :thumb:

Agreed, I use this at work and home. Dish soap barely scratches the surface of my grease stained hands after a days work. Unfortunately i do use the scented scratchy stuff but it works :waytogo:

Clicky without a doubt the best hand cleaner in the universe. I worked at a shop for 6 years and we would get PISSED when we ran out (we were 2 miles from GOJO headquarters btw). I realize it doesn't help you right now, but it's worth the coin to get and have in the future.

My worst "shampoo" was with a gallon of gear oil--HATE that skunky smelling crap!..motor oil and ATF,hydraulic fluid at least donr stink that bad,and are easier to get off of you...

I've used Lestoil,or Dawn liquid dish detergent and Arm & Hammer baking soda to wash off oil spills, the baking soda works as an abrasive and also cleanses and deoderizes the smell better than soap alone...I use it when I get diesel fuel on myself, which also has a nauseating smell....

When I had a gallon of school bus yellow paint I mixed at work fly out of the paint shaker one day and smack me in the face ,and douse me with the whole gallon in my eyes and hair,I used Lestoil, fingernail polish remover (acetone) and just about everything in the closet to try and wash it out!--I succeeded in getting MOST of it out,but some of it had dried,so I had to cut most of my hair off,and use SOS steel wool pads to rub off the rest from my skin--I looked like a peeled lobster for a few weeks...(screwed my eyes up permanently too,but I never got a workmans comp case check out ot the ordeal)....

Anti-freeze dont bother me as bad as oil or ATF does--its slimy and gross, but it dont stink at least...water washes it off pretty good without any soaps,etc...

The best way is a blond with a bottle of any damn thing , now don't be upset if it takes her a few sessions to be completely sure :woot:. :haha:

Lava soap and the gojo with pumice in it work well but I would keep that away from the blond or you will be a few pounds lighter when done :pimp:
