I put a Bestop soft top on the work truck a couple days ago and overall, I like it. I chose Bestop over Softopper because the reviews said the Bestop rear window was easier to deal with for rear access. And it seems OK. But is there a better solution for stowing the rear window in the rolled up position, besides the elastic loops at the ends?

It kinda flops down in the middle and doesn't stay rolled all the way up. I think a couple adjustable nylon straps with buckles would work well, but I'd hate to go modifying a brand new top if there is another solution.

The sight of it like that doesn't really bother me, but I fear it will come undone in high winds at highway speeds.

Seems like you could use a dowel rod or piece of pvc pipe to roll up in it to keep it in shape. But then you'll have to store said piece somewhere in the truck when not rolled up.

To roll up the window, you must first remove the "tailgate bar" that slides into a channel at the bottom. It can be seen in the picture, sitting on top of my toolbox. If the bottom of the window stays rigid, there is not room for it to roll up into the top, since the top opening is much narrower.

That's why he suggested a separate piece that would be short enough to work.

too little too late but I went with a Wildtop truck cap for my tacoma but they have them for other brands. You can actually put stuff on top as it is load bearing, the sides and rear roll up and you can drive down the road with them up, the "tailgate bar" is integrated into the roll ups so no sagging. The only downside compared to a soft topper or best top is they can be folded down to haul tall loads and mine has to be completely removed but its easy to remove.

Yeah, and it's something I'll consider doing.

....and I was about to type about getting another tailgate bar with the bead channel in it to cut down... but I just realized I have an RV awning mounting strip with the bead channel in it. I'll just cut a piece of that and use it. It should work well!

I specifically needed one that could be folded down quickly and easily. Honestly I will probably have the side windows out and the rear window rolled up 3 seasons of the year. It will probably get briefly folded down at least twice a week.
