Besttop Owner's Manual, and: no new Bestop K5 tops.

Does anyone happen to have an owner's manual for a Besttop? I have one I got with my truck when I bought it, and I'm finally ready to put it on. I have a top, some foam, and a pile of poles...and not sure how it fits together. I guess a pic would be fine, too.

I have snaps drilled in om the outside of my K like a boat top, in case there were different mounting choices.

Well, it's an '87 K5, and nothing on that list shows that it will fit my K, and none of those parts look like my parts, either. It almost looks like I have glorified tent poles for my top, but the all of the parts do appear to be quality...I just don't know how it all fits together, or, is supposed to.
 
Are you sure its an actual Bestop? If the name on the box is slightly different, it might be a knockoff.
I don't see where they show they make one for any truck other than an 8 foot bed.

I downloaded the manual for an F150 just out of curiosity about getting one for my Ford, but they are all for 8 foot beds and I cut my F250 in half and put on a SWB bed to get away from that.
From what I could see in the instructions, I feel pretty sure I could modify the hardware to fit, but the cloth would require a lot of reworking.

If you have a part or model number, go to the main page, http://www.bestop.com/ and enter it in the little search box on the upper left and hit enter.
That was how I found the instructions in the first place.

It may be a discontinued model. If so, drop them an E-Mail and see if they will help.

Let us know what you find out.
 
I'll e-mail them; it appears that they don't make it any more, and I'm pretty sure I read that here somewhere, that they don't make the K5 top any longer.

The vinyl/fabric looks good, so I don't know; I've seen plenty of doo doo tops before, so who knows.

I will keep yonder thread informed.
 
The amazing customer service people at Bestop sent me a .pdf of how the whole thing goes together. Awesome reply with exactly what I needed.
 
Cool, its always nice when customer service is actually customer service. Glad its a good company.

So its a discontinued product?
I'm not in the market for a top right now, but I have considered it.
I'd like to do business with them because of the way you were treated, but they don't show a short wheelbase top.
 
I've read that they could make it, but the reply I got said this:

"I have attached a set of the old instructions for the Tigertop that we used to make for the Blazer."

I take that to be a negative, but what I had read around is that once they get enough interest, they make a few...and then go from there.

I now know the parts I need, so I'll ask the status of this tomorrow AM.
