i decided that i need to get some new tires for the suburban before winter starts. i talked to a person at Discount Tire about choices and i am leaning towards the BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO in 31x10.5x15.

does anyone have any opinion on these tires, or any others i should consider? i am looking for a fairly aggressive all-terrain tire that will see mostly on road use but needs to be useable in muddy crop fields.

BFG AT's are awesome on the street... they also work great in the sand.

I don't have any experience with them in the snow/ice though...

I had them on my old truck, they did awesome on the snow. Even impressed the old man, he put a set on his truck. If they weren't so expensive I'd get a set for winter/daily use....

Yep, if I hadn't of been able to get the Big-O X/T's for a couple of dollars more, I would have gone with the AT's. They perform well in the snow and ice, as well as sand, but they suck in the mud, they just plug up.

I've got a set on my 90' K5 and LOVE EM'! But I honestly think the only terrain they do the worst in would be mud (not horrible, but not the best) I mostly use them in Moab and they do hella good there! Honestly awesome tire all around for sure.

I have ran several sets and they have done great. I think they are the best all around tire there is.

These are great! I have them on my 2002 2DW Frontier and now on my 89 K5 Blazer. They did great last winter in the mountains of KY and WV on my 2WD Frontier. Mud and snow was no match for me:D

If you don't mind a little noise I always ran the mud terrains and got at least 60,000 miles out of them, and had 3 sets. They were great in the snow and good in the mud for the hunting trips in Ohio and Montana that I went on. Mine were 35s and were on a burban with 8in. of lift.
I got 37s on my 91 burb now. I swear by BFG's.
Tarey

They worked for me in the mud, but I was using a lot of wheel speed

what he said i love em came on my blazer when i bought it and upgraded to mud terrains then bought new all terrains for my dd. They do very well in most conditions and a great ride/all around tire

I've ran the BFG A/T's on a vehicle and they were great until you went into the mud then all they did was clog up and no traction whatsoever. The BFG mud's are a much better all around tire and i've gotten 50K plus on a set and that's with DD the rig. The BFG's aren't any noisier than the A/T's but work much better off road.

I'll mimik what others are saying: The BFG A/T's are great. On my Sub in the snow they just bite and hold on.

i had 2 BF Goodrichs on the back, 2 mud terrains i had sitting around on the front. one of the mud terrains was just under the tread limit for siping.

i asked, but the tire people said i am better off having none siped then just 2.

I replaced my old BFG AT with General AT2 tires 2 years ago. Honestly I can tell no difference between the 2. Similar tread design. So far they have been a good tough tire. They are wearing well and perform well offroad and in snow/ice. They are a good all around tire. Like BFG they are not great in the mud but they are far better than most other AT type tires. Only mud terrain would give better traction.
Not saying they are better than BFG.
But
Best thing about them was they were $25.00 per tire less than BFG for 12.50" x33".

Ive ran them on my dd and they were nice. Never put them in the mud, thats what the 39.5 Irocks are for!! they kicked ass in the sand didnt really need 4wheel drive that how good they were. Oh and expect some impressive mileage out of them.

when i first put my hd togeather i had 315-75-16...i got 55,000 out of them, awesome all around tire..

I just bought 7 of them to run on my 05 Chevrolet Dually they seem they are going to be the best tire I have ran so far. Also almost every oilfield pickup truck that runs around here uses them.
