bfg tire opinions?

Mine only lasted 20000 miles. Regular rotations. BFg at. They were the old style. Maybe something changed. I got many punctures in the tire and a blown out sidewall. The 3 ply construction road
Nice on road but sucked offroad. I have the mud king mts now and have lasted twice as long and havnt had a flat yet. I really
Like the Goodyear mtr. Really good
Tire and have done real well on all the magazines
Tests. My next ones will be the military 37s. I found a local place that sells them for 75 bucks apiece. Can't really beat that.

Another vote for BFG ATs:waytogo::waytogo::waytogo:

Yes they do gum up and become slick in the mud but if you can spin them up and they usually clean right out.

I will be moving to 16s once my 15s wear out. 16s offer more sizes and heavier load ratings which is a must for suburbans.

All I run and plan to ever run is BFG ATs.

I got the BFG rugged terrain. So far I like them. They have a nice thick sidewall and still a street friendly tread.

I put a set of these BFG Rugged Terrain on my wife's 2wd Tahoe and think they are perfect for that. Just had it in some minor snow/ice and they did OK without chains.

285/75/r16 BFG A/T 10 ply Radial is what I had. Great looking tire! Did good on snow, ice, rain and wooded forests on a non wet day.

Mud, not so good... Raw gravel at the pits, great but it chews up the tires really quick! Don't be surprised to see your lugs cut, missing or frayed. After 2000 miles I traded them in for a set of 5x 37" MTR take offs and had them sipped at Les Schwab. So far I like the take offs better because the BFG A/T tire thread depth comes only 16/32... And the 37" take offs last longer then the Energizer bunny...

My brother had a set of 6 or 8 ply BFG A/Ts and had them sipped. They have lasted him forever! Too long to remember.

Good to know. Thanks.

BTW I just towed 'em through some loose sand with no problem. :thumb:

Not a AT but I have BFG mud terrain KM2's on my duramax and love them, they have about 35k on them, plenty of life left and get great traction

Just a hair noisy but I drive them 44 miles a day for work plus going to job sites (oil pads) and see mud, rock, snow, sand and I have yet to get into anything they can't get me out of.

Pricey tho

No doubt the BFG ATs are a great tire.....That being said after trying the Goodyear Duratracs I would never go back. I tried them because all of the tow companies and DOT vehicles that work the summit were raving about them, they are a great tire for a heavier truck that will see Snow Ice gravel etc. Not the best in the mud but neither are the BFG AT's. Also I was told that the BFG AT's are no longer manufactured in the US, only the Kralwers and KM2. I have talked to several people in the last 6 months or so that have been unhappy with their BFG's (not all ATs but some) since the switch to overseas production.
