I am going to need some tires soon and found out that interco is going to be coming out with the Swamper LTB in new sizes soon (35x12.50x15) and I have never ran Bias. I have read they have stiffer sidewalls and heat up faster and seperate on the road if under inflated. I am mostly on the highway but would like a good strong offroad tire when I do go out. Would these be safe to run on the highway for most of their life as long as I keep the air pressure right? or should I stick with the Radials I have now. I have been running pro comp mudders and have split two sidewalls already and dont want to do it anymore. Thanx.

no more bias ply for me!

I have been running these 39 inch iroks for 3 years and I like em except when I air down to 10 psi and below. I lose beads left and right. Might have something to do with them being 17s. Strong and good wearing tires. They were really cheap compared to all the radials. But I will soon be swapping out for 40 inch MTR or bfg km2 or Krawlers. My last set of 37 inch MTRs were awesome. No cuts or tears. These tires also wore nicely. For my application, the iroks just would not break in. My MTRs on the other hand flexed like crazy!

Radials ride much better on the freeway. my personal suggestion is to get a cheap set of steel wheels and mount the bias tires on it. Swap tires before you go wheeling. Hwy use on off-road tires also causes extensive wear on tires that are expensive to replace...

One thing on the bias vs radial is the bias develope a flat spot after sitting a while. And it takes a while to become round again. My 42's beat me to death until they get nice and warmed up driving on the highway. Maybe like 5 miles or so before the smooth out. The cooler the outside temp the worst they are.

my 38 tsl bias tires are going on 6 years old. one does have a real bad flat spot that one stays in the back and you can actually feel it when you go under 10mph. but as long as you keep them ballanced which takes a ton of weight sometimes they are fine. i had my blazer on the highway going 80mph for 50 miles straight with no problem at all (didnt know i was doing 80 till my buddy following told me)

i have bias ply tires and my truck is mostly on the highway, but built for wheeling, and i don't care about gas or vibes. If you care even a little bit about gas and vibrations, then go radial. Ohh, radials last longer mileage wise and bias ply last longer trail wise, imo.

How much longer of a life difference we talking between bias and radial on the highway?

I'm floating the idea of the 34x10.50-16 LTB, mostly because other tires in a 16" rim are almost double for a similar size. Ride quality doesn't bother me too much, it's a truck :D

if the tread wear is not much less I think I could handle the rest. The tires are less money and have better sidewalls so alittle less miles will be ok. Any info on the diffrence?
