Bicycles

I did a lot of mountain biking in my youth, also did road trips long distance.
Since my daughter turned 3 and started 2 wheeling (removed the training wheels) we have been riding around town and local bike trails.
She just turned 12 and I gave her my 26" road bike.
I want to get her into mountain bikes, she is a natural.
We also love hiking and backpacking so we will mix it up.
Never really got into bmx, tried it didn't see the point.
I like adventure not staying in a park.
I did look into downhill, although not sure it's something you start at 52.
Maybe I will try it and see.

It's never too late to start riding. The mtn biking scene is more about enduro now from what I understand. (Ride up usually and ride down) Auburn has some killer trails @imiceman44

Yeah as my business starts to get less chaotic and I can manage some time with the wife and daughter I will start getting more serious.
At this point I am building a bike from an aluminum frame I got from a friend of mine.
Doing disc brakes conversion and tires

Too proud not to post up my little warrior.

Here’s my 7yo again. She just got a new, well deserved upgrade. We went camping and riding in NC this weekend. Here’s two pics from day 2 at DuPont. 17 miles and 1800 feet of climbing. She’s fierce.

Used to ride bmx all the time. But when my s&m dirt bike got stolen at college I haven’t rode since. I have an old man trek entry level mountain bike now. I still have my gt pro performer that I changed up for dirt jumping. I had many bikes I pieced together, standard, fit, and haro, specialized etc. there are some great trails around me, I just never have free time to myself.

8 always rode a 20 as a kid. Built my own bikes usually, my pride n joy was stolen and I stopped riding till I was 28 living in the Florida keys. I got tired of drinking n fishing (if you could believe it) my friend ran the public skate park in marathon n sold me his new Premium. He was an ex pro skater n talked me into it. Just like that I was 270lbs dropping in vert. Wood was hard to get used to bein a dirt guy. I moved back to jersey n started riding street/dirt again. That led to me selling and moving to a 26" Haro dirt jumper I ride today. Still building a diety with a fox fork tho.

Okay fellas recommend me a bike. Very much entry level. Mostly paved roads some dirt roads. Just riding for exercise. Riding position must be upright and comfortable. I cannot ride hard. I have gone into a couple bike shops and they are talking 500 bucks and up. That's not happening. I'm cool with used stuff

For what you need go to Walmart or Costco and get yourself a $150-200 bike.
They do the job just fine.

Or you can check out the performance bike online

They are nationwide and very reasonable prices

I'd stay away from the cheapo bikes at the box stores and look for a quality used bike. There are big differences in the quality of components, especially in the pedals, brakes, gear cassettes and shifters. You don't need to spend $$$ on a full suspension bike. I'd rather see you spend $2-300 on what was a $600 bike new than $200 on a new "toy" bike that a kid is supposed to wear out in 2 years.

My Specialized Hardrock has been a great bike. IIRC it was about $350 when I bought it 25 years ago. I recently put a Gila suspension fork on it to help w/ the carpal tunnel. I also put a 5" rise handlebar on to ease the strain on my back. This newer version already has the front suspension fork. This style is called a hard-tail mountain bike and will probably be your strongest and most versatile in your price range.

Put smaller knob all terrain or hybrid tires on (called PPT for pavement, path and trail) if you're not going to hit the hard trails. It will give you a much more comfortable and easier to peddle ride.
